I was surprised to see how many of us wouldn't leave home without
    cigarettes.

Makes me wonder if there's any corelation between our phobia and being
    smokers.

    I unfortunately smoke. But I was a "late-bloomer." I didn't
start until I was 20. My younger sister smoked since she was 14
and she always seemed so calm and cool. When my boyfriend at the
time broke up with me, I decided to try it and "calm down." Now,
I'm hooked 6 years later. I wish I never started. But oh
well. I know i'm not strong enough to quit anytime soon.
    Too much going on...

Yes, I have smoked for 22 yrs.....I am trying to quit.....but it's not working so far. I think it "so called" relaxes me when I am anxious...alot of the times it makes me sick though....especially when I am feeling really sick. I use it as a crutch alot. I am addicted to them. I love them...I hate them...I need them.....I despise them. Can you tell I need to quit? But I feel so totally lost without them.

I have a plan to quit the beginning of January. I've quit a couple of times for
a few years, but I've gone back. I love them and hate them, too.

If it weren't for my daughter I might just give up and not bother. But I have
to fight it for her sake.

Smoking is a huge comfort for me, even though I know cigarettes are not good for my health.

One thing about smoking, if I feel n* and I am not sure, if I smoke, I know for sure because it will make it worse if I am n*. I also feel better if I smoke when I am anxious.Edited by: mistyeyes
    I must face my fear.
I will allow it to pass over and through me.

I don't smoke mainly because because it's another year before it's actually legal, but the smoke smell actually makes me n*

Well I smoked 30 a day for about 10 years but somehow managed to
give up at the time I started trying for my daughter, and I haven't
smoked since - she is nearly 6 now - so pat on the back for me!
It would be quite easy to start again, you know, when your having a
drink or in a pub, but i just think of the way it makes your clothes,
hair and skin smell - and I think I don't want my daughter asking me
why I suddenly smell so bad!!!

Yeah i'm a smoker too...started at age 13, quit whan i was 19...then 13 friggin years later i started up again!!! I could KICK my OWN ASS for doing that!!! I've been back smoking again for the last 8 years. I want so badly to stop!!! I'm like you other smokers, i have mixed feeling about it...i love it, yet i think it's the 2nd most EVIL thing...following Emetophobia! I WISH i had the will power i had at 19, but i don't, cuz i tried quitting a few times, with no luck at all! I would like to believe i COULD kick the habit for the New Year! God knows i will try, but He also knows i am weak! :-( I live with a smoker (or should i say CHIMNEY!!) so that makes it all the more difficult to quit! (sigh)
