My 5 yr. old has d*. It started this morning when he got up, about 3 times in an hour, he was fine all day and then just a few minutes ago he went again and said his tummy hurt. He's acting fine, but do you think he will v*? I'm so scared, I can't stop worrying that it's an sv that will cause him to v* after d*. Anyone have any reassurance for me? Help! Does it sound like an sv?? No fever yet.Edited by: sheri-baby

It could very well have been something he ate. I hope he's feeling better. My son had "EGG BURPS" all day today and then said his tummy hurt, he ate some macaroni and cheese and felt better. then he went D and said he was all bettter.

I'm pretty sure he wil be ok. The d* started this morning, and he never v*ed then, chances are theat he won't.

I freak about the same thing. My son has constant "tummy aches", but I always make him show me where it hurts. Usually, it's a poop related thing (he has chronic constipation). Poor kid.

Let us know how he is!

My youngest had diarrhea a few weeks ago. She woke up real early one morning with it. She said her tummy hurt and she went poo SEVERAL times that morning. By luchtime it was over. She never v'd and was eating and drinking the whole time she was having the diarrhea. No one else in our home got sick either. I dont know if it was a virus or not, but it was short lived and no v* was involved!!!!

I hope you son is doing better!! Keep us posted.

Well so far so good, he's asking for something to eat, but I worry because my hubby has had a few sv's where they started with d* and turned into V*. You guys did give me some hope though, thank you so much for your replies! You guys are so great!! I really have no one else to talk to that understands my fears, thanks again.

It actually could (technically) be as things like rotavirus commonly
causes D* in young children but it doesn't mean it's going to cause any
V*or a fever or be severe or last a long time. Just keep him hydrated
and try not to worry about catching it yourself. It may be a virus but
not in the sense that we fear.

Sheri-baby - I wouldn't think its anything to worry about. Its just
something in his little system that is trying to get out. It can take
ages for their poop to get back to normal. I can remember my
daughter had d* for a day or so (no v*) and then nothing for 2 days
and I thought it had gone, and then a day later she had d* again. But
she was fine in herself! So who knows - if he hasn't v*d by now then
he's very unlikely to!! Have a nice day at work. And may you all be
d* free soon!!

My doctor always tells me a SV is usually followed by D*, it doesn't usually start with it. So I think you are safe. Has he been drinking more juice than usual? It's probably something he ate or just his system is a little off. If he slept all night and it didn't wake him up, I don't think it's a virus. Let us know how he is.

This is why I could NEVER have children.

The D* would scared me almost as much as V*.
I must face my fear.
I will allow it to pass over and through me.
When it has gone past I will turn my inner eye to see it\'s path.
Where it has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. -Dune

Misty...kids are very difficult for us as EMETS, but I would never trade the joy from my son for any phobia. I love that boy so mucha nd he does V* a lot, but only 2 SV's and yes, I do worry 24/7 that he will be sick. Today for example, he acted a little weird and I was freaking out. I did everything to refocus him and make him less tired looking and it finally worked. Now he is sleeping for his nap and he is fine I suppose. I

Sheri, I hope your son is better. I wouldn't worry about V* at this point and it is probably food related. I know how you feel. I get so worked up over things that I feel like we are sick daily, even when all is fine. This is such a bad time of year for an EMET and I don't know how to stop our panic. i certainly don't let my son know that it scares me since that would drive him to this awful fear possibly. I am thinking about you and I hope he is better.

I've just returned home from work and my husband has had my son and daughter out all day, so I guess he's alright, although my husband is opposite of an e-met and doesn't think twice about things like this. I really appreciate everyone's advice and thoughtfulness, and I hope i'm not back here posting about the real sv any time soon!! Thanks again, i'll keep you posted of any changes.

p.s. Misty I know how you feel, but like gubba said the love we have for our children wouldn't be traded for anything. There my life!

Sheri...my husband is also exactly the opposite of an EMET. He will totally ignore when my son gags or anything and keeps right on going with him. I guess thats what we need in our lives to help balance out the kids. LOL

Glad your son is better.

How is your son? I am on my 5th day with the diarrhea, it isn't fun. His stomach pains could be from the pooping. That is what Ihave been having. I put myself on the brat diet, if it continues than I will see my NP, I think its just a virus and knock on wood that I don't feel like vomiting.

They havn't come home yet, so i'll see how is after dinner. Ontariogirl, i'm sorry about your d*, could be the same thing my son has, he's not nauseous, and no fever so i'm not sure. I hope you feel better soon!

Gubba that's true about our husbands, my kids would be in bad shape with just me around! lol
