I was thinking today (as I so frequently do) about all the little bugs and things I've had over the years, and one in particular made me think. In about 2002, there was some sort of v* virus going around our school - my friends were dropping likes flies. I was convinced I was going to get it...and I *think* I did. But it was weird...apart from feeling really n* for about 5 days, I didn't have any other symptoms. No d*, no fever, nothing. Just feeling horrible...and gagging a few times (sorry >_< ).

Its been playing on my mind ever since. I'm really curious - has anyone else had something similar? Feeling like you've got an sv, but totally lacking in symptoms? Perhaps I was supposed to v*, but being an emet, fought it off? I'm interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

The summer before last, I had *something* that caused the worst D*
imaginable for a little over a week. It was pure torture but the whole
time I was surprised that I was spared any N* or V* from that for which
    I am extremely grateful.

Do you think it could have been anxiety that caused that? Were you fatigued as well? I think that if you had caught something, you would have a more symptoms than just nausea.

^ Hmm, thats actually what I started to think, too. I was probably convinced, at the time, that it was the dreaded sv that everyone at school was getting...whereas it could just have been really extreme anxiety. It was so strange, though, it really felt like I had something.

Icicile, it was very similar to what you described - couldn't eat, couldn't sleep...just came totally out of the blue! 'A Phantom Virus' maybe, lol.

I usually get something similar a few times a year Angel-

Not food related, not stress related- just severe nausea (sometimes accompagnied by stomach cramps so bad it feels like an alien is about to pop out of my intestines) and a high fever. It generally happens when a flu is going around- so I think whereas my friends catch the same thing and allow themselves to puke, I try not to unless it's essential/inevitable.

I think how your body reacts to an illness, or how you allow yourself to react to an illness is really a deciding factor in whether or not you're going to vomit. Mind over matter can help at times- whereas in others, not being sick is a hopeless cause.

My kids had a sv two weeks ago. For about five days after I felt nauseous to the pit of my stomach. I hardly ate a thing, and even though my stomach was so empty and desperate for food, I could hardly swallow a thing.

Looking back, I put it down to real anxiety and exhuastion, from being up through the night with a v*g child, and then not settling for the next few nights expecting it all to happen again, either to them or to me! Once I'd gone long enough to convince myself i was clear of the sv, i started to feel better.

That's what bothers me the most about being emet. Although the feeling of relief a few days after being exposed to SV* (without acquiring any symptoms) feels like the world is lifted from my shoulders, I can't stop kicking myself for all the anxiety and misery that I put myself through for nothing.

The worst part is that I know that woring myself like that has no positive results, but I also know that I'll continue to do it.
