Ok last night I drank 3 bourbon and cokes and 1 gin ale and bourbon. I didnt guzzle them and I didn't really even get a buzz. I usually drink beer and know my limit, it has been a while siince I drank bourbon. However I have been up all night generally not feeling well and nauseated at some points. I keep taking emetrol and it seems to control it for a while(about 2hrs or so but then I start getting n* again. Each time the n* comes back it gets worse. What can/ should I do. I also panic when I think I am going to be s*, and when I am n* orv*. This makes it worse. I have phenegran but am unsure if they will help or if I should try them. Please respond.

I dont know much about anti-emet drugs coz I've never used them. but it sounds like your working yourself up because you know that you've done something that can possibly make you ill. (I get like this all the time).

I know its hard but you should try to relax and do something to take your mind off of it - surely it wont be long until the drink is all out of your system anyway

Just let it happen, it's the body's way of getting rid of all the alcohol you drank. At least you know that you won't be sick from a sv, and once you let it out, you will feel better. Let this be a lesson to you, don't drink like that again.

I hope you do get some relief soon. Feel better.

I know I am horrible about panicking over this, I hate it! Thanks for answering b/c this is really scary for me.

The thing is I quit drinking over 9 hours ago(I did eat a fried bologna and some baked beans afterwards but that was still hours ago too), i dont think it was too much alcohol, it just feels like it is sitting there and burning.

Hi, sounds like you have got a nasty hang over. Im feeling pretty bad right now too so now how you feel

A hangover is actually just bad dehydration so maybe you can try drinking lots of water to rehydrate yourself and flush the alcohol out of your system. I wouldnt recomment taking an antiemetic when drinking normally because the alcohol can cause serious damage to your body. You didnt drink alot so i dont think you will v* now, if you were going too, i think it would have been soon after drinking. I think you just have the yucky hang over feeling.

Well Ive been trying to drink as much water as possible, but this just seems to kinda sit there too. I have been able to go to the bathroom a few times but the feeling in my stomach just keeps staying the same. I have v* before but usually the nausea is much worse and doesnt let up. This time it just kinda is hanging on long enough to make me freak out. It lets up with the anti nausea syrup but comes back after it wears off or I drink too much water. As far as the hangover I don't feel any hangover symptoms, prob bc ive been up all night worrying and trying to flush out any alcohol as suggested. I just keep wondering where do I go from here? What is the best way to handle it if i do v*? I really appreciate all of the responses. They are helping me a lot and at the very least helping me try to keep my mind off of the feeling.

    Thanks

I was burping earlier but it seems that has slowed too, infact my most recent round of burps included what I guess you would call a "wet burp" which kind of adds insult to injury considering the n*. Should I just take the phenegran and hope for the best?

Go for it! Drink lots of water too. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and felt n* But I know it was because I had a cosmopolitan with my dinner. I got up got a bottle of water, sipped it slowly and went back to sleep feeling a little better. Here's to hopng everything goes ok with you! I think if you were gonna v* it would have happened already. You'll be okay!

Well I took the phenegran just now so I hope it works. My stomach should be pretty receptive to it I hope! Maybe it is empty and thats why it feels nauseated? Well lets i hope this works. I always thought that v* happened right away too, i didnt think n* would last this long, and thanks for the encouragement, It reallly helps to hear it. I hope that someday when others need help here I will be able to lend support the way everyone is helping me!

If you are feeling better, that's great. Just keep doing what you are doing. It is possible to feel so ill, even though you drank so long ago. It was probably a big shock to your system. Hang in there.

I think you my be experiencing what I experienced a couple of months ago: I knew that I drank a little too much, and my emet mind started on overdrive--I started worrying about N* and V* because I did something that would make it possible to happen. Well, keeping this in mind, I would feel S* off and on. It got to the point where I didn't know if I actually felt S*, THEN realized it at the time, or if I would THINK about it, THEN feel S* as a result of my worrying. Does that make sense? It got to the point that during one of my N* waves, my stomach actually convulsed! Needless to say, I was not S*, and I know now that I just worked myself up to it. The mind is a powerful thing, and I think that if you talk to friends and communicate with the supportive people on this site, it will be helpful in taking your mind off of the N*. Hope you feel better real soon :-)

    Bryan,

The one time I recommend that people don't do anything to prevent vomiting is when they've been taking drugs or alcohol. There have been cases where drunks have died because they did not vomit when they needed to. I don't think you're in danger of dying from four drinks, but it's not like the case with a virus where vomiting will do absolutely no good. Of course, this is probably moot at this hour, since you made your initial post 8 hours ago, but I have to agree with babygap that it's better to puke than not puke when suffering from alcohol poisoning.

    Best,

    Doug

    I agree with Doug-

Never EVER take an anti-vomitting drug while drinking, because if you drink too much, even if it doesnt seem like much to you (it really does depend on how your body processes alcohol), you can do some major damage. When someone has drank a lot and they aren't getting sick, that is actually a cause for concern (got the whole training on this situation when I was a frosh leader- NOT the best place for an emet, lemme tell you).

Even if it is a few hours after you drank and you are still nauseous, that can be normal. Some people don't get hung over until morning (I actually know several people who, if they are going to be sick, wont be that evening. It only happens when they get up). As was mentioned, a great deal of this is due to dehydration- I would choke down some gatorade if I were you.

    Hope you're feeling better

God I'm sorry. I also ment to say that I do hope you're feeling better. Maybe it is an empty stomach that has you feeling aweful. Bread may soak up the acid? You are probably feeling much better by now though.
