Hey, I've been on my first Christmas do of the year and I am now feeling yucky, we went to a posh japanese restaurant. I don't normally eat sushi but I thought I'd try some, I had some tuna and salmon, I also ate somecooked cod and washed it downwith an really rich chocolate cake... I now feel really hot, bloated and have lots of air bubbles that keep coming up my throat. I felt so bad in the restaurant I felt it hard to make conversation so mademy excuses and left, back home I've been for number 2's and itwas really smelly. My boyfriend just tells me I over did the rich food and I'll be alright, but I still feel really scared... I've got a headache now to top it off.

Your boyfriend's probably right. The No.2s are likely to be a product of the rich food and your anxiety. You've heard the term "s**t yourself" (sorry!), but when we get scared, that's what happens. It happens to me when I get panicky, and it's loose and smelly too (ooh, sorry for the graphics!). I get the air bubbles too - trapped wind - rich food and stress - a great combination. Try and relax, get some cold night air if possible. If you have it, and don't mind the taste, sip a small brandy, it's a great digestif,(popular to round off a meal),and relaxes you too. Do what you can to distract yourself - try and recognise when the discomfort is easing, it's on its way out then and your fear should ease. Thinking of you x

I've been warned about my forum ettiquette, but I want you to know that the following reply is from the heart....

Eating rich foods can cause stomach discomfort, so if you worry about
stomach discomfort, like I do.... I highly recommend avoiding rich
    foods.

    There's nothing heroic about worrying.

Thanks guys, I took your advice. I ended up being alright after I got some fresh air and then had a mint tea... I had to go to bed with the tv on though to distract myself... I feel like such a child.

Don't feel bad about it ^_^ I would have been exactly the same! When anxiety strikes, you just have to do whatever you can to calm yourself down. Glad you're ok - I've never been a fan of Japanese food - good on you for trying something new!

Glad you are feeling better! I do the same thing with the tv....having movies on when going to bed. I brought that habit from childhood, and when I am REALLY anxious, I have to sleep on a couch too!

Kudos to trying something new! I really dislike ALL seafood, so I wouldn't even bother, but if sushi was so bad, it wouldn't be so popular.

I'm glad you are feeling better too. My parents go out for sushi ALL THE TIME and they are ALWAYS fine. I'll have some sushi every once in a while. What you really have to look out for is the Sashimi, which is Raw fish. Mostly sushi is cooked fish in rice rolls wrapped with seaweed. I like eel myself.
