I went in for my appointment today and everything looks good! According to the little circle thingy my due date is 7/10, but on the ultrasound I measured a little small so she put me at 7/17. My calculations put me at 7/14 (from when I thought I ovulated) so I suppose it's all close enough. We got to see the little "bean" and hear the heartbeat! It was 158, nice and strong. It was so exciting and such a relief! The one thing I am a little concerned about is that my doctor said my pelvis is pretty small (I am super tiny) and she doesn't think I can handle much more than 7 pounds or so. We are going to have to watch how big the baby gets really closely towards the end. But I was only 5 1/2 pounds, so she thinks there is a good chance my baby will be tiny too. Yay! I'm so excited!

Congratulations! I was almost 7 pounds at birth, my first was 7 lbs. 2
oz, but my second was only 5 lbs. 13 oz. So since you were a small
baby you should be fine! Isn't it so exciting, to see that little peanut on
the screen? Makes me nostalgic for my pregnant days. lol!

Congratulations!! I'm not trying to be a know it all, but I just wanted to tell you my experiences with having a small pelvis:

Small pelvises mean nothing, they CAN and do spread they told me w/ my 1st baby that I probably wouldn't be able to deliver vaginally AT ALL (I am 5 feet tall and 100 lbs), so I went through 9 months of dreading a c-section, and when the time came, Logan was 8 lbs. 5 oz. of chubby baby delivered vaginally with NO PROBLEMS, after an 8 hr. labor!! THen Haley came 22 mos. later, all 8 lb. 7 oz. of her (2 hr labor, 10 minutes of pushing), and then 6 months ago tomorrow, I had my 8 lb. 4 oz. little boy (again 2 hr. labor, 2 pushes) But seriously, small babies would have been great for the RIPPING I went through!!

Some people do have small pelvises, of course and need c-sections or smaller babies, but I think that in this day and age of section mania, dr.s like to say that!! This was meant to be encouraging, but it just hasn't come out the way I intended

I am glad that you have had your first docs appt. and got to ask all your questions and have your mind eased some.

I am glad that they are going to monitor the babies growth to try and avoid a c-section. Try not to have the mind set that you are absolutely going to have to have a c-section. I am not small like you and Donna, but I did have to have c-sections. My pelvis could accomodate my babies, but my cervix just wouldnt cooperate!!!!

I am excited for you, I miss being pregnant!!!!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

DOnna... u're bringing back nightmares.. LOL...(jk.. or am I?)

Sillygirl! Glad to hear you're baby's going strong!! It just gets more and more exciting from here on our w/ the ultrasounds! And doctors visits.. and then you get anxious bn/c u can't wait!

The due date is really like a 2 week guestimate.. I was due 7/27, but was induced on 8-2, had my water broken on 8-4 at 11:30, and had an 8.5 lbs baby at 1:24!!

I went so quickly, that I ended up just being a natural labor... and maybe it's cause I don't remember the pain so much 4 years later... it's not as bad as one may thing.. you'll manage... we all do!

Enjoy being pregnant... time goes by so fast! You're iddble biddle will get here when s/he is ready!

I'm not worrying about it too much. It definitely feels more real now, though!

Donna, actually that was reassuring. The thing is, they can't really accurately tell the size of the baby anyway until it's born. I know one girl that is really small like me, and she was told her baby would be about 6 1/2 lbs, but he was over 9! She ended up having a c-section because she wouldn't dialate, but they didn't think the baby was going to be that big anyway. Whatever hapens, happens. If I have to have a c-section, I will, but I would prefer the natural experience.

The pain really isn't that scary for me. I am more worried about v* than pain!

Silly girl... when you're having labor pains it's totally different from nausia or v* pains. My first contractions were belly ones, but after they broke my water, I had back labor... so you never know... but I'm pretty positive you won't v*

You must be so relieved now that you've had the first appointment. I know I was. Congrats and enjoy the next 7.5 months. I'm 5'2" and used to be skinny (ha, two kids later and that changed a bit) and was told many things over the years by different doctors....tilted uterus, small uterus, small pelvis, blah, blah. And I had a 7lb. 2oz. baby that didn't want to come out, but finally emerged after 2.5 hours of pushing and then a 8lb. 9oz. baby with two pushes. It's amazing what the human body can do. I've known rather large woman who you would think would have no problem pushing out a baby, and they ended up with c-sections when their bodies just wouldn't cooperate. So, don't worry about anything right now and have fun waiting for that first kick. It is so cool!

Congratulations. I know you were trying for a while to get pregnant so I'm glad to hear that everything is fine with your baby.

You're obviously still very early in your pregnancy so don't worry
about whether or not you have to have a c-section yet. There will be
plenty of time for that later.

My mom has the clasic "childbearing hips" and, unfortunately, I have
them too eventhough I inhereited almost all my looks from my father.
Even with that she ended up having c-sections both times she gave
birth, so you really never can tell.
