My name is Fiona and i live in Australia (does anyone else live in Australia?) i was watching Dr Phil on Friday and there was a chic on there with a fear of vomiting! I thought that me!!!!! AND there was a name for it! OMG! Im sooo happy.

My big question is can i be cured???

Also, i might be pregnant and i am CONSTANTLY thinking im going to get morning sickness and i even wake up through the night feeling really sick (however, i never vomit!) i think about it so much that i do start to feel a little sick.

Does anyone else have dreams of vomiting???

Hi fiona, congratulations on the pregnancy! I think alot of us here do have dreams about being ill, your not on your own. I have never had a child but many people here are parents and can probably give you some advice to help you deal with the morning sickness.

The good news is, this phobia CAN be cured, sage is living proof and a role model to many of us here!

    Good luck!

Hello Fiona! I'm in Australia, too - SA, to be precise, what about you?

Yeah, v* dreams are awful! Especially those ones (a tad graphic) where its all in your mouth, and you have to keep spitting it out. Ughh!

Let us know if you're preggers or not, good luck with that! ^_^

    Hi Flower,

Welcome to the site. Emetophobia can be "successfully treated". I like that term better because "cured" sounds like there's an easy route - like having a shot or a pill or something. Treatment takes a long time and can be difficult, but many people (including myself) life joyful anxiety-free lives after treatment.

    Good luck!

Hey, I used to wake up all the time in the night when I was younger,
feeling REALLY sick and shaky, and I would get myself so wound up that
in the end I'd just fall asleep with the light on... then I would dream about
    it.

Wow! I want to have a baby so badly, but I am so freaked out about morning sickness and vomitting in general. This website is great because I finally know i am not the only one. I have always thought of myself as a freak of nature. The other day I drank orange juice, it was spoiled and so I made my husband finish the cup of it to prove it wouldn't make me vomit.

Talk to me about pregnancy and emetophobia?

I have a 3 year old son and i did not V* a single time while pregnant. I felt a little yucky during the day and more at night than the A.M. I have dealt with my son being sick better than I thought I would, but it is a challenge. I would not trade being a mom for anything...DON'T LET THIS EMET THING WIN AND KEEP YOU FROM HAVING A BABY!!! It is not worthkeeping something so wonderful away from your life. For the few times a year that my son is sick, I know I can survive and have all those other great times with him.

It is tough and i can't lie about that, but you learn to deal with it and you let your husband do a lot of the work when they aren't well. Tell him going into it that you don't do V* and you can take care of the rest. Remember that they V* from lots of things that aren't SV related and I keep that in mind and I do better.
