How is your son now? I hate when the little ones get coughs like that, you always know what's coming It is easier when we know that it's not a sv, though. How old is your son?

He's 3 and fine now. He is playing and screaming and his cough is actually fine now. I guess the gunk came up too.

    Thanks for asking

he's fine and even eating well, but still coughing. No more V* since this a.m., but I do better with it knowing I can't catch it. he doesn't feel bad, so it makes it easier. right this minute he is coughing pretty hard, so I am getting a little nervous, but i know we will all survive.

thanks everyone for being here for me. i am so glad i found this place.

    Gubba,

Wish I was like you.... Even if I know I couldnt catch it I would still bea wreck. It is v* in any shape or form that I cant handle. The build up to it too. EVERYTHING. I am as scared of others doing it as I would be myself doing it.

O.K. I am a mess...He just V*d twice and thankfully my husband is home and cleaned it up while I was comforting my son who was telling me how nervous he was. I hope it is just the cough and not an SV too, but he seems o.k. right now. I'm not, but he is.

How's it going now? Does your son have d*? Did he have a cold to begin with? If he had a cold to begin with he probably just keeps choking on phlegm.

Hey...I'm having the same problem. My son felt horrible last night b/c of his cold, and he fell asleep on the couch. When I went to pick him up to take him to bed, he was doing that constant swallowing thing. I thought for sure he was going to v*. I immediately felt panic and kept asking him if he was gonna be sick. Where his tummy hurt (he also has chronic constipation).

After that I could not sleep. I got up at 11:30 to pee, and I heard him calling me, and I thought "well, here we go, and you are on your own". Luckily though he didn't.

I can't get him to take his "cough vitamins" tonight, so it may be a rough one.

Hopefully we both get through this. Not to mention that MY stomach isn't right tonight either. Great

He woke up at 11:30 and V*'d on the floor several times. Washed off his face and he is abck asleep. He wants in our bed and I said no. He and my husband are back asleep and he is in our room on our daybed.

No cold first, just a horrible for 2 days. He did tell me a few minutes ago that his throat hurt, so we have never had strep and i wonder if this is it.

I am in a real panic, but i cleaned up and rubbed his back during all of it knowing i had you guys to be here for me.

No d*. I doubt it is and SV since a lot of phlegm comes up and that is it.

    THANKS ALL OF YOU
Maybe i can get a few mor hours of sleep

what would i do without you all?????

it is now almost 6 a.m and he did wake up at 3 and want to watch t.v and he coughed a lot, no V*

He did V* a few minutes ago and i think he is now again with his dad in there. i guess i will call the DR. today. and try and get in to make certain it isn't strep or whatever else it could be. He has sipped on Gatorade at 3 and that stayed down. I only gave him a few sips.

I am still shakey, but so exhausted from sitting up all night waiting for MORNING!!!

Make matters worse, and yes he did V* more, my husband must go to work today, so I get this alone. I am about to go nuts and I am so scared. I know this will be over soon, but i don't think it is an SV and i think it is totally drainage, so I am still scared, but mostly of the sound of it and the no knowing when it will happend and actually watching it is killing me.

    Could he have influenza?

I am one of those people who get extremely nausiated when I get congested, so it could very easily be just the post nasal drip making him sick. How is he feeling now? How are you?

I am scared to death, but I did talk to his Dr. and we are going in in about 45minutes and they said we would have to wait since we are being worked in. The Dr. said it sounded like an upper respritory infection or congestion and nothing more. Who knows. I am so scared and I want to tell you all that my husband, who knows my awful fear of V* was going to head off to work since he has a very important meeting that influences his pay for the rest of the year...HE IS SITTING HERE RUBBING MY SONS BACK!!!!

I am so lucky. He will go off to work after the Dr. office visit, but by then I may be a bit more calm

    Thank you everyone for listening!!

OMG.. sounds like everybody is miserable! I really hope that your son is alright, or that they find the problem. It doesn't seem like you guys can take much more. At least you made it through the night, so now it's time to do that same during the day. You can do it; one day at a time.

We just saw his Dr. and he is better. He got some meds down him and we stayed there until we knew they were in him well enough that if he did V* again, he did get some mortin. he has an infection which is causing the cough and that is causing the V*.

I told the Pediatrician about my EMET problem and it was relief. Ihave never told any DR. He laughed a little and then told me that I needed to do something to keep my son from panic attacks when this happens.

    I need to go.

Wow this sounds like a total nightmare. It's amazing that you were able
to keep your cool... I just know that when I have kids they are going to be
emets too from learning my reaction--because the first time something
like this happens, I will be crawling out of my skin and calling local
    hotels.

No you won't. We still had V* here last night, but so far today he has been fine. Still coughing, but no V*. His fever is down from 102.5 to 99 and I am so glad of that too. It is scarey and being an EMET with this is awful. I want so badly for him to never know about this and to never have it. I think that I am working so hard to make sure he doesn't get worked up over V* that I just become a mess later. I must say this site has really helped knowing that I can come here to a safe place and tell everyone how frightened I am, but I also have a wonderful husband who told me something interesting this a.m.

he told me the no one likes V* which i knew, but he also told me that it is a little scarey and upsetting to see anyone sick. He is NOT and Emet, but he said that if we could keep it in perspective and know that no one likes it and that no one wants to do it, but it does happen, not too often, that it may help. I was glad to think that on some level all people have some fear from it. He said he just can't imagine that it could be a fear all day every single day. I don't understand it myself, but I know that it is that way.

Thanks again everyone for all your support. It has made this awful event a bit easier knowing you guys are here.

Hey gubba - glad to hear your little boy is getting better. Fingers
    crossed the worst is over.

I don't know about you, but I find it really hard to believe that other
people don't feel the same way about v* as we do! One of the most
scary things to me about v*ing in public, is that it would make
anyone around me feel as awful as we do when we see it! I just can't
get me head around the fact that most people may be mildly put off
their chips for 5 mins and then forget about it - whereas with us its
    TRAUMA CENTRAL for 2 weeks!

I do get freaked out for more than a few weeks. I can remember seeing a street person V* on the sidewalk near the bus station where we took my sister to go off to summer camp when I was 8 years old and I am 41 now. I can remember everything about it and no one else in the car saw it. I can remember my cousin V*ing on the sidewalk outside a hotel when I was 12. I think my EMET began long before that since I can remember being s* when I was 7 and it was scarey, in public and my mom told me it was only once that I v*'d, but I thought it was tons.

Anyway, my son is much better and he has not V*'d since last night in the middle of the night and thankfully that was it. I hope we are at the end of this thing with him. He is still coughing and still has a little fever, but the Dr. said he would for a few more days. I'm hoping the V* is over and I have had my dose of exposure therapy for a lifetime. i don't think exposure is helping me, but I can say I am not worse for having been through this last few days.
