I was reading our local newspaper yesterday and decided to read a column that is exclusive to the Sunday edition. The guy that writes the column was talking about being careful what you say--it may come back to haunt you. Anyway, he was telling about how he had harassed one of his friends for "chickening out" on a ride at a local theme park. Then he told about how he (himself) did the exact same thing on a ride at our county fair. He said he is not afraid of any ride, but has this intense fear of *v*, especially in public places. He was already on the ride with his son and at the last minute decided to get off due to his fear of *v*.
I wasn't sure whether to pass out or jump up and down when I read this. This man is actually admitting his fear of *v* to everyone who reads his column. It was so refreshing to read and I'm so greatful he had the courage to write about it. He obviously doesn't know that it is called "emetophobia" and that there are so many others with the same fear.
I plan to respond to this column and tell him about this phobia and that he is definitely not alone!
