For those of you that have had SVs recently, did any of you bother taking an anti-emet pill and did it work?

I've been perscribed some by my doctor (you don't swallow them, so
there's no chance of it coming back up again) and my anxiety has been
much better, because I've been telling myself "you don't have to v*,
you've got pills to take it away".

The few times that I've felt very n*, I've taken one, and it's
made me feel better within 10 minutes. But will it work with a
proper SV? If you've got to v*, will your body do it, regardless of
    medication?

Those of you that did v* recently with a SV, did you feel relieved
after, or did you wish you'd taken something to stop it happening?

When I had an SV last week, I took some Mylanta (stomach settler) that you chew up, and I thought it had helped for a while, but then it didn't :O( Normally I refuse to swallow anything when I'm sick so I was being heaps brave, and I was so disappointed when it didn't work! It wasn't really an anti-emetic though. I tried to call my doctor to get some pills or shots or anything to stop it, but the stupid receptionist doesn't understand my phobia, so she wouldn't put me through to the doctor to ask what to get - she was like "oh you haven't been sick for that long, just drink water and see if it goes away, I don't think it's serious" GGGRRR! So I toughed it out!

    What pills were you taking?
\"What are you gonna do today, Napoleon?\"
    \"Whatever I FEEL like I wanna do, GOSH!\"
    (Napoleon Dynamite the movie)

I've got pills called "buccastem" which apparently are actually
"prochlorperazine". You slide them under your top lip and they absorb
    through your gum.

I heard someone say that benedryl (the allergy/hayfever
medication) also works as an anti-emet, and you can get that over
    the counter.

When my mum (so many stories start like that because she V* so often) was very sick with Norwalk she had been sick all night and so I called the Dr out and it was later confirmed she had norwalk, anyway he gave her some anti emetics which she took for the next 3 days and wasn't sick again, she probably would have been had she not been given tablets. But she has some type of blood sugar issue and it was making her so shakey. She had D* and felt very exhausted for a week because of the illness but the V* stopped. Now...Norwalk is pretty harsh. Btw the drug she had was Reglan (Metocloprimide) Anti emetics can stop you from V* even with a stomach virus I believe. They are not 100% but ya know...it's worth a shot lol
Be courageous, believe in yourself, and be the best woman you can be. I'm with you all the way.
