SO many of you in the US have said that Benadryl acts as an anti-emetic. How do you know this? Are we talking about Benadryl the cold and flu medicine? Does anyone in the UK know if our version is the same in that respect?

diphenhydramine is an antiemetic. Gravol is made from it.

The only real difference is that it takes less benadryl than it does dimenhydrinate.

what a horrible night to have a curse.

I know it from being a veterinary technician. We would use benedryl as a anti-emetic, and plus, while I have been on the pain reliever darvoset, the dr said I could use bendryl with it if my stomach gets upset-It just knocks me out.

The problem with diphenhydramine is it is more sedating than
anti-emetic, and it can be addictive. Your better off with domperidone.

erm......I have never see anything that says diphenhydramine is physically addictive. It's just an antihistamine.

    Hi

I have recently got some gravol as I have relatives in canada who brought it to the UK for me. But the packet says that it is herbal and basically just ginger. Does this mean that I didn't get the right sort of gravol - is what I have not really an anti-emtic???

willow 2 - sorry to be of absolutely no use at all - haven't got the
foggiest! The only anti-emetic I know about is Stemetil (and I think that
has to be prescribed by a doctor.)

Just wanted to say hello - i'm new and looking forwards to many forum
chats in the future - can't work out how to go on the chat room -
blooming computer keeps saying unknown error?? (I'm not very good
    when it comes to computers?)
