i am new here...

wow, part of me feels like such a weirdo for joining this group...but
the other larger part of me is so relieved and happy to know it
exists...i have been an emetophobe for as long as i can remember. im 18
now, but somehow i went through 12 years of my life without puking or
getting stomache sick. 2 winters ago, i got some stomache bug and
vomited alllll day. it was terrifying. i couldnt believe it was
actually happening. afterward, my parents came up with this theory that
actually throwing up would cure my emetophobia. well, they couldnt have
been more wrong. for the past 2 years, every time i get the slightest
"weird" feeling in my stomache my first thought is, "oh my god. am i
going to puke." it's really taken control of my life. i had a few
severe panic attacks because of the phobia, but those are much better.
(havent had one in over a year)...anyway...im pretty much a freak about
puking. my friends dont understand it (and i dont really either)...all
i know is, i am CONSTANTLY thinking about/fearing throwing up. sweet
life, really....

Welcome and you are not weird...we are all just exactly like you and it is a strange phobia. you will ownder how it took so long to find this site. I found it only a few months a go and I feel better just knowing that the lifetime of fear that I had was also known by others and so many others that could help comfort and support those bad days and sick feelings.


Glad you are here, and know that there is nothing you can say that we will think is weird...we all undestand what you are going through.

Welcome to the site and like gubba said you are not wierd. I used to think I was wierd because of this damn phobia now I look at it as if I am "special"[img]smileys/smilies_01.gif[/img]
