    Hi i am new here and i followed up on this site and yes i am petrified of well you know!! so what does everyone else do to help with this fear cuz i need help with it. i hate the fact that i think about it constantly and i feel so alone so please help and give me some advice. i think i need all the help i can get. Thanks!!

    i understand where your coming from i think about it constantly. sucks eh? but yea em.. if im getting a panic attack i do deep breathing, telling myself "your ok your ok", watch something thats familiar and funny like "Friends", sing, eh.....i cant really think that well off the top of my head if you get me but if i was about to have a panic attack i could tell you a million things i do lol. do you get panick attacks and stuff?

    i am constantly thinking about it and i hate it. i do alot of deep breathing to calm me down but still i wish i could do something just to get rid of this fear all together you know? when i tell people about my fear they look at me like i am a retard or something but no one seems to understand what the hell we go through. i get panick attacks all the time and everything to go along with em i just figured mabe there is something that i dont know yet to try and calm me down when i am having one.

    I AM NEW AS WELL,



    ITS SO NICE TO FIND OUT YOUR NOT MAD ISNT IT??



    I AM NOT AS BAD AS I USED TO BE. MY EMET USED TO SET OFF PANIC ATTACKS,
    WHICH OF COURSE MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE. I USED TO GO FOR A WALK OR PLAY
    TETRIS, ANYTHING TO OCCUPY MY MIND. TO CONTROL SYMPTOMS OF N* I
    FOUND GINGER TEA, CRYSTALLISED GINGER AND WEARING THE SEA BANDS ON YOUR
    WRISTS HELPED. WHEN I AM REALLY BAD I TAKE DOMPERIDONE, BUT ONLY
    OCCASIONALLY. I AM QUITE LUCKY I HAVE MANAGED TO REDUCE MY EMET
    DOWN TO A LEVEL I CAN DEAL WITH. I DO GET OCCASIONAL REALLY BAD DAYS
    BUT THEY DO PASS AND YOU DO GET THROUGH IT. UNFORTUNATELY I NOW
    SUFFER WITH IBS, AND GET V BAD STOMACH CRAMPS, WHICH CAN SET OFF MY
    PANIC ATTACKS AND INTURN SET OF FEELING OF V*. AFTER READING SOME
    THREADS I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT I DONT SUFFER TOO BAD, BUT I
    SYMPATHISE COMPLETELY WITH EVERYBODY.



    HAVE YOU TRIED RESCUR REMEDY AT ALL?



    I AM QUITE ANTI PRESCRIBED MEDICATION (I AM A PHARMACY TECH), AS I
    PERSONALLY BELIEVE THEY WILL CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS FOR ME, SO I GO FOR
    THE NATURAL APPROACH.

    i agree on going for walks i always do that when i really need to calm myself down. i guess its just a weird thing for other people to understand, only the people closest to me know and even some of them are still like- "what the hell?" but its not about the other people its about you, and you beating this thing, dont let other people not understanding get you down cause we cant really expect them to understand cause it is quite difficult. how old are you?- if you dont mind me asking/

    FIRST TIME I STAYED AT MY BF FLAT I HAD PANIC ATTACK TO 2AM. I
    WAS LIKE ' IVE GOT TO GO..............NOW!!'. HE GOT WORRIED AND
    THOUGHT I DIDNT LIKE HIM, WHEN I EXPLAINED HE WAS GREAT SAT WITH ME,
    CAME OUT FOR A WALK EVERYTHING. HE EVEN KNOWS NOW WITHOUT ME
    TELLING HIM WHEN IM BAD. THAT IN ITSELF MAKES IT ALL EASIER TO DEAL
    WITH. HAVE YOU GOT A BF/GF ANYONE TO CONFIDE IN?

    i would like to thank you guys for the advice i will try them. i am a 22 and have been dealing with this as long as i can remember.the walking always helped me and when i read that you guys do that too that made me feel alot better.to me i think it works and makes all the nasty feeling go away for a short time atleast lol. its nice to be able to relate to other people thanks!

    i've got a boyfriend but sometimes he just thinks i am going overboard and thinks its all in my head. he just doesnt understand what this is all about.

    i do indeed have a boyfriend to do that with. my emet is associated mainly with my eating, its bad with that, and his mum had made me tea at his house once and of course i started to think "s***" but i sat down and forced myself to eat a wee bit and my boyfriend was like "your doing great" which made me feel alot better. He hasn't seen me full blown panic or anything yet though. I know thats prolly gonna happen one day so im not sure how that day is gonna go.

    chickypoo104- show your boyfriend this website. he might realise taht its not just in your head theres plenty of us out here with the same thing, going through the same situations.

    i will show him this thats for sure! i think he will realize that my fear is not a joke atleast and there are other people out ther that are suffering too. you probably have a good idea how nice it is to feel that you are not alone.

    TRY SIPPING GINGER TEA (I THINK TWYNINGS MAKE IT). IT LOOKS RANK BUT SORTS YOU OUT (PREGNANT WOMEN SWEAR BY IT!!)



    WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN WAYS OF DEALING WITH THIS, AND YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU.



    I LOOK BACK AT HOW BAD I USED TO BE AND CANT BELIEVE WHERE I AM NOW.



    I WOULD ONLY EAT ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT FOODS, I USED TO BE THAT CONVINCED
    FOOD WAS GOING TO POISON ME. I NEVER WENT IN CARS/BUSES. I HAVENT
    BEEN ON HOLIDAY IN 8 YEARS. I TRIED TO JOIN THE TA, AND HAD TO
    LEAVE BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WOULD GET PANIC ATTACKS AND V*. I NEVER
    ATE AT FRIENDS HOUSES. IT USED TO COMPLETELY RULE MY LIFE.



    I STILL DOES IN A WAY, BUT I GO OUT (WONT EAT MEAT IN RESTAURANTS
    THO!!). I JUST MAKE SURE I TAKE MEDS WITH ME JUST INCASE.
    IF I HAVE A SOFT DRINK I MAKE SURE ITS GINGER BEER (I SWEAR BY GINGER,
    IF YOU HADN'T GUESSED).



    YOU JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU FEEL, YOU WILL COME OUT THE OTHER END, AND IT DOES GO AWAY.

    oh god i know, ive only recently become a member on here cause i found it one night like last month when i was in a panic one night. its amazing to find so many people who feel the same way, i really thought i was the only one. but everybodys here for each other to help each other out with any worries its great

    thanks for the advice. i do drink alot of gingerale but i never stopped and thought of drinking the tea. i will try that. thank you. i am the same way i dont eat in resteraunts and at friends houses and if i do i always take gravol with me and i hate that. but its the only way that i feel better.

    i cant believe myself now either, i never used to eat at all. i never thought about poisoning or anything- well i did but it was never my main worry- i just got it into my head that eating=v*, which it doesnt food is there to be eaten and its good for you!


    scribbledog- how did you start eating different foods, cause im eating the right amount but my food variety is still very little, i eat the same foods cause im to paranoid and worried to eat other foods cause i think since ive never tried them before theyll make me throw up.

    gravol is a pill that you can get from the pharmacy that will take away nausia,vomiting,diziness and all that stuff that goes with it. it is accually for motion sickness but when i found out what it did i was all over that i was like give me that please. but the thing about it, it can make you addicted but i can say that i am not. but i know people who take so they can sleep and i feel bad for my freinds who do that.

    MY BF HAS SEEN NUMEROUS FULL BLOWN PANICS AND HE IS GREAT. I HAVE MADE
    SURE HE IS ALWAYS AWARE OF EVERYTHING AND ALWAYS TELL HIM WHY AND HOW I
    AM FEELING SO THAT HE DOESNT THINK ITS HIM.



    THE OTHER NIGHT I WOKE UP DRIPPING WITH SWEAT THINKNING I WAS ABOUT TO
    V*. I WENT DOWN STAIRS SHAKING, MY HEART WAS BEATING SO FAST I THOUGHT
    I WAS GOING TO DIE. THEN TO TOP IT OFF MY IBS KICKED IN. ITS THE
    WORST I HAVE BEEN IN MONTHS, BUT IT WAS ALL OVER IN 10 MINS. THE
    DIFFERENCE IS NOW THAT I DONT LET THE ATTACKS RULE THE NEXT MONTH OF MY
    LIFE. FIVE YEARS AGO I WOULDNT HAVE EATEN THE NEXT DAY INCASE I
    V*, I WOULD HAVE SCRUBBED THE KITCHEN FOR GERMS ETC. I HAVE MANAGED TO
    STOP DOING THAT NOW.

    what did you do to make yourself stop cleaning and get over alittle cuz the other day i caught my self cleaning my entire house because it is cold and flu season and i dont want me my kids or my bf to get sick.

    JEZEBEL- ITS A SLOW PROCESS. I USED TO ONLY EAT PASTA WITH TOMATO
    SAUCE, BREAD OR CHIPS. I THOUGHT THE PLAINER THE FOOD WAS, THE
    LESS LIKELY OF ANYTHING HAPPENING. AS I SAID BEFORE MY BF IS
    FANTASTIC AND HE HAS GRADUALLY INTRODUCED STUFF TO ME. HE ALWAYS
    EATS THE SAME AS ME. IF ITS NOT GOING TO HURT HIM IT WONT HURT ME.



    I STILL DONT EAT MEAT VERY MUCH, I HAVE JUST STARTED EATING SAUSAGES AND EGGS AGAIN AFTER YEARS.



    TRY EATING A LITTLE BIT AND SEE HOW YOU FEEL, DONT MAKE YOURSELF FEEL
    BAD IF YOU DONT WANT IT. I ALSO FOUND BUILD UP DRINKS OK IF I
    COULDNT FACE FOOD AT ALL. THEY ARE OK OCCASIONALLY THOUGH, DONT RELY ON
    THEM.

    yea folk had suggested milkshakes with nutrients in them and stuff to me, yea my parents are trying to introduce me to new foods now cause my heads on a different level than it was, i know now that food isnt whats giong to make me sick, but its still hard. i get what you mean i generally think that the plainer the food the less likely etc. im a vegetarian aswell so i dont have any variety lol.

    the funny thing is that when you said if hes ok your ok. That is so true lol when my bf or kids come down with a cold or flu i am automatically sick just like that. i am eating lots of pasta too and bread. i dont have a problem with most meat but i find hamberger and tomatoes just hurt me. i dont think i have a problem with eating at my house it is when i go out of my house is where all the problems begin. i really have to work on it.

    AGAIN THE CLEANING THING TOOK TIME, I STILL COME BACK FROM THE
    SUPERMARKET WITH ENDLESS CLEANING PRODUCTS, I AM ASUCKER FOR ANYTHING
    ANTI BACTERIAL!!



    I JUST KEEP THE KITCHEN CLEAN WITH SOMETHING I TRUST LIKE DETTOL, I
    MAKE SURE I CHANGE CLOTHS AND SPONGES REGULARLY AND ALWAYS WASH
    MY HANDS WITH A HAND ANTI BACTERIAL CLEANER.

    im all over the anti bacterial stuff too! lol, i think i mat have the cleanest house in canada. its kind of funny but i feel so much better now lol. i am constantly all over my kids about washing their hands.

    I WORK IN A PHARMACY (WORST PLACE TO WORK YOU WOULD THINK). WE
    HAVE PEOPLE COME IN WITH ALL SORTS. IF SOME ONE HAS A BAD COUGH I
    THINK THEY ARE GOING TO V*, I FREEZE, I HAVE TO GO UP STAIRS UNTIL THEY
    GO.



    BUT I HAVENT HAD A COLD IN NEARLY TWO YEARS (TOUCH WOOD). I JUST TAKE MY VITS AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.

    now how have you not been sick for 2 years and work at a pharmacy and have our illness all at the same time? i wish i was more like you and not have to deal with this as much. how long did it take you to get to where you are now?

    I HAVE HAD EMET FOR ABOUT SIX YEARS I THINK.



    I LOVE MY JOB, AND I WOULDNT DO ANYTHING TO RUIN IT. DONT GET ME WRONG
    I HAVE HAD REALLY BAD DAYS AT WORK. I HAVE HAD TO GET THROUGH IT
    BECAUSE TELLING YOUR BOSS WOULD BE WORSE, THEY WOULDNT UNDERSTAND.

    i think the only way to be able to understand this disease is to have it. i have alot of motivation to get rid of this but i think it will take along time to really get to where you are. i just hope my kids wont get this or have a phobia as bad as this is.

    I USED TO LIVE WITH A GIRL WHO HAD A PHOBIA OF FAINTING, GREAT PAIR WE
    WERE!!. SHE GAVE ME A BOOK TO READ CALLED 'FEEL THE FEAR AND DO
    IT ANYWAY' GIVE IT A READ.



    I THINK I AM LUCKY, I DO HAVE EMET, BUT NOT AS BAD AS I HAVE READ ON
    THIS SITE. OVER TIME I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TRUST THINGS MORE. AFTER I
    HAVE EATEN SOMETHING A COUPLE OF TIMES I AM OK, THINGS LIKE THAT



    ITS ALL TIME, SOME PEOPLE NEED MORE THAN OTHERS. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THIS GO AWAY FOR EVER, BUT ITS A PART OF WHO I AM.

    do you think anyone can accually be over emet? i bet you two were quite a pair! do you happen to have the name of the author of that book? if you do could you let me know? i would like to be able to say 'yeah i used to have this silly fear but its gone now'but right now i think it is going to be a long time before i can say that but i believe one day i will.
