    Hi,

I have suffered for about 6 years, fortunately without affecting my
life too much. I now will have to go to hospital to have teeth
out soon. I can handle fear of going to hospital, its the general
anaesthetic thats worrying me. Are drs generally sympathetic to
    us emets?

I have started waking up in night in pool of sweat thinking i am going to v* (i dont, never do).

Any one been in similar position?

Hey! I was just as worried as you when I had to have my wisdom teeth out. I was crying when the doctors came in, and they told me I was not going to v*. Guess what? I was fine!!!! It was nothing, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. I will tell you that it's painful, but they give you good pain meds for that. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Oh yeah, i have a fear of anesthesia also, but so far, in the 3 times i've had it, i've never once v*ed. As long as you tell them that you have a problem with v*ing, they will give you an anti-emetic along with the anesthesia. I am one who believes in speaking up for yourself, so i INSIST on telling them they have to give me an anti-emetic!! YOU are the patient, so you have every right to tell them what you need. :-) It'll be fine...you'll see :-)

    God bless you!

I had my wisdom teeth out recently (as well as other crap done) w/ IV sedation and was fine. Like the others said, tell them you want an anti-emetic in w. the mix. Just tell them about your fear or if you arent; comfortable w/ that just make the request w/o giving a reason. I haven't had a dentist yet who refused or thought it was stupid. I don't know how indepth your surgery will be but mine was 3 pulled and 1 cut out and pain-wise I was fine w/ Advil and ice packs. You'll do great and be so glad when it's over cuz youw on't ever have to do it again!

    THNX FOR THE REPLYS GUYS,

I AM DREADING THE SURGERY, BUT THEY SAID IT SHOULD ONLY TAKE 40 MINS TO
TAKE TWO TEETH OUT. I WILL DEFINATELY ASK THOUGH. I AM A
PHARMACY TECH SO I KNOW THE BEST DRUGS TO ASK FOR (PERK OF THE JOB!!)

ITS SUCH A RELIEF KNOWING I AM NOT WEIRD. I AM NOT AS BAD AS I
USED TO BE. ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO I WOULD ONLY EAT 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF
FOOD, I WOULDNT DRINK ALCOHOL, NEVER WENT OUT TO FRIENDS HOUSES TO EAT
OR DRINK ANYTHING. I AM STILL PICKY WITH MY FOOD (WONT EAT MEAT
IN A RESTAURANT) BUT AS LONG AS MY B/F COOKS IT I AM FINE. I
STILL GET PANIC ATTACKS BUT THESE STEM FROM MY EMET, ITS LIKE A
VISCIOUS CIRCLE. I WILL ONLY TAKE MEDS IN EXTREME CASES THOUGH AS
I KNOW HOW DEPENDENT YOU CAN BECOME (ANOTHER PERK OF THE JOB!!)

THANKS AGAIN AND SPEAK TO YOU ALL SOON X
