I am on Zoloft and I have gained weight. I have also not been as active and eating whatever. So I dont know if its the Zoloft or not.

I am getting ready to start the South Beach Diet...AGAIN. I lost 20 lbs on it before but stopped. Its a real healthy way of eating.

I've been using Zoloft since March, and so far haven't noticed any weight gain. I do know, however, that with any antidepressant, there's always a chance of slight weight gain, BUT there can also be weight LOSS in certain people, especially those who are already underweight to begin with.

It really all depends on the individual, everyone is different and each has a unique chemistry.

Your weight gain MAY also come from the fact that you may have gotten more of an appetite since being on Zoloft, and it's actually what you're eating or the amount you're eating. I say...if you FEEL better mentally, since taking them, and you can function better than before...who cares then, if there's some added weight?? As long as you're healthy and happy :-)

    God bless!

Yup, antidepressants and weight gain... it's the lesser of two evils though. I'll take some extra weight over being that depressed any day. I've been on Zoloft for about a year, and it hasn't been too bad for me, but it certainly doesn't help in losing weight.
