I have decided that I am not going to let this stupid phobia get the better of me. I've had enough this weekend of worrying about whether I ate too much and whether that would make me sick, and that the chicken I ate today was very dry on top so could it be re-heated, therefore make me sick etc..

Anyway! Tomorrow, I have decided that I am going o try to stop this phobia getting the better of me. If I remember, I will post the results here tomorrow. If I fail tomorrow because I'm ill tonight or whatever, I'm going to try the next day and the next day until it works.

And if it works, good. I'll ty again the next day until the days build up. LEt's hope I remember my challenge tomorrow eh!

Soccer, I think the turning point in my emet was when I was staying with my cousin and he came down with Norwalk, I think. He was up all night with it and had to go to the doctor to get a shot of Phenergan so he would stop vomiting. I didn't find out about it until morning, but I just freaked out. I had been emet for about 13 years and hadn't puked in more than 10. I vowed not to eat until the incubation period was passed. Which is 2 days for Norwalk.

Anyway, on the second day of my fast, after I hadn't eaten in more than 40 hours, I happened across a soft ice cream stand, and I realized I was missing a lot of good things, including eating, because of my emet. So I decided I would eat ice cream anyway and deal with an upset stomach only if it happened. My cousin's wife came down with the virus too, but I didn't.

Occasionally I get freaked out about Norwalk in the winter, but for the most part, my philosophy is to keep my emet under control and not let it control me. Since I haven't puked in almost 30 years, I think it's reasonable to keep the dreaded act from controlling my every move.

Wow Gumdropper you were THAT close to the Norwalk virus and didn't get it? You are LUCKY...but as for the rest of the posts I think that I can beat my Emet. Recently I've been just eating food and to hell with the consequences! Like tonight we got Chinese food and I ate until I wasn't hungry anymore...which is odd for me cause usually I'll have like three bites of something and then wait till I feel a "safe" time period has elapsed and then have some more! Tonight I said F THIS! LoL! And I'm doing just fine!

That's the attitude!! The only way we will beat this thing is by getting mad, telling it that it isn't going to control your life any more and just going for it! This kind of approach is what I have been working on with my counsellor, and it is really working for me. I have done some major things in the space of a few weeks, things I could never have even considered doing a couple of months ago. I've made real progress, and you all can too! Hope it goes well, and congrats!

    Thanks everyone

Today went fine, my friends were all ill at school and claimed they all felt like they were going to be sick but I just sympathised with them and didn't worry about what would happen to me.

I've also got a terrible migraine, but I've decided I'm not going to mull on it, I'm going to get another eye test soon and put something nice and cool on my forehead.

I read this internet site and really felt sorry for this person with an eating disorder: http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Xx__PrettyGirl__xX

I read through her entries and I realised that we all have our problems. While I could not relate to her specific problems, I mean most of us would love to be able to be sick without batting an eyelid, but of course not for the same reasons as all of those people.

Thanks again everyone, and I hope tomorrow I can try the same thing. xxxxx
