Bad Day at work for an Emet!!!

I just got home from the most horrible day ever at work...I work for a
dog boarding kennell and daycare, where we sell raw food and bones for
dogs. Well, the girl who usually does it quit and I had to do all the
bones and raw everything..put them into bags and label them etc..I was
freaking out. There were NO gloves for me to wear, I had to do it with
my bare hands...put some raw chicken in a bag, then touch the pen to
write the label, the raw was getting everywhere, all over everything,
and I almost just ran out of there , it was overwhelming me!!! I kept
thinking..the salmonella and ecoli are seeping into my pores and into
my nose. Is that weird? do u think I will get anything? I scrubbed my
hands with bleachy hot water after..but I am still scared!!

I think that as long as you didn't like SUCK on your fingers or the pen you were using then you should be fine. Did you touch your face a lot when you were doing it? It doesn't sound like you did...I think you'll be fine!

Im pretty sure you will be ok..As long as you washed your hands and had no open wounds on them

I doubt very much that you will get those sickness's.
I dont blame you at all for leaving!! Why aren't there any gloves for you guys to wear? That to me isn't right at all. I would be going to the store and buying rubber gloves, even though I wouldn't put my fingers near my face, the fact that this is so unsanitary I wouldn't be touching it at all. What happens if you have a cut or something on your hands? I don't know if having a cut could cause anything but for sure I would be wearing gloves!

ontariogirl I am in BC..I used to live in sw ontario.I almost always
have scratches on my hands from handling dogs...I never even thought of
that! the other girls who package the food don't wear gloves, I didn't
know I would be doing that job. I will be be buying some gloves
in case I have to do it again...it was so gross....ty for replying...

lol monica youre so funny. i agree with her though. i do the same thing
when i touch raw meat. i bleach everythign i touched afterwards but
seriously you cant get ecoli or slmonilla unless you lick the raw
chicken
