What works for me, I know this is going to sound silly, but I sing. I found that if I sing the same song over and over and overagain, it helps the attacks pass. MY song of choice is "You are my sunshine." I'm not sure why that song, but it was the first song that popped into my head the first time I ever had an attack and it just worked. I hope my suggestion helps.

I have rituals that I try to do when I start to panic. I have some Lavender spray that i spray all over my room. It really relaxes you. I also try to read to get my mind off of panicking. Or I try to watch a movie that I love.
I've been gettin gpanic attacks all day long. Not necessarily from this phobia..but I worry about sooo many things all day. Like today for some reason Im totally freaked out b.c. I think my boyfriend is cheating on me. And he works about half an hour away. There is no way I can go up there. He deosnt answer his phone! SO im freaking out.
Thats why I like coming to this site....to talk to people..i feel a little bit better. I find it very calming to talk to others about my problem![]()

I had a bad day yesterday. Couldn't figure out why. Then I sat down and tried to think about what I was upset about. Sure enough, I thought about it and I figured out what it was. Then I talked to my husband about what I was anxious about and you know what? He told me it was ok to feel sad/angry about what was going on. I have that right. I was anxious because I was feeling out of control over my emotions (and isn't control what emet is all about really?). I just had to tell myself that what I was feeling was ok. What you are feeling about your friend is ok. Bad things happen, stressful things happen, and it's ok to feel sad/angry/scared sometimes. We try, but we can't always make things better for the ones we love.

Nothing to worry about, jezebel, it happens all the time, especially to emets like us^_^ Different things work for different people, but I find doing something totally normative, like listening to a popular radio station, or reading the paper, can really help.
You just need distraction from it. Once you get your mind on something else and totally forget about why you're panicking, you'll stop shaking and feel totally normal again.

this sounds like plain anxiety.. something i get alot...
i find that a good way to calm down is aromatherapy...
An aromatherapy bath before bed will begin the relaxation process. Be sure the water is warm not hot. Use any relaxing blend that appeals to you. Some oils to try are of course Lavender( not too much or it will have the opposite effect), Chamomile, Sandalwood, Rose, Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage. Use about 6 drops of essential oils total per bath.
a couple of weeks ago, while i was at a friend house, i felt sick and had a panic attack, i was terrified i was gonna be sick. so i decided togo home, and run a nice bubbley bath with some essential oils in it [img]smileys/smilies_04.gif[/img]it made me calm down and made me feel heaps better.. i then went to bed and fell fast asleep [img]smileys/smilies_04.gif[/img]
