On as we speak, she was just talking about her emetophobia. Said
she burns her chicken so its safe to eat. And when someone around
her is v*ing she has to ask whether its the stomach flu or food
poisoning. Pretty interesting to hear it talked about on television!
    Anyone else see?

Did she call it emetophobia? Just wondering if she used a technical term.

It would be cool to have a celebrity join the forum.

    Denise? Denise? Where are you???

No she just said it was a "fear of vomiting." Jay said, well noone
enjoys vomiting, and she said, "it goes waaaay beyond that." She
also mentioned she didn't know where it came from, something from
    childhood maybe, she said.

I wish I would have seen it. I knew she was an emet, but I have never heard her say anything about it.

Did you know Matt Lauer (Today Show) is supposedly an emet too?

Man I wish I would have seen that. It's comforting to know that there are celebrities out there spreading the word of Emet! LOL The word of Emet...like it's a bible or something!

She was on a few years back talking about it too. She said that when she flies she's scared of germs, so he DR told her to put a little bit of neosporin (antibacterial wound ointment) in her nostrils to catch and kill bugs. I've done that ever since! It's amazing she has had two children since that appearance a few years back...I guess there's hope for emets that want to get preggers!
I\'m not completely insane; I\'m just a little bit crazy.

This is awsome! Not that she has emetophobia, because that's horrible, but just cool that someone so famous shares our fear and can openly talk about it like that! It could alsohelp get the word out and raise awarness for this phobia, and forpeople who suffer from it but don't know there are others, let them know that they are not alone suffering! And look at how accomplished she is...an actress and a new mother! It gives me hope in a way that there is life outside of this!I have also heard that Matt Lauer is a fellow emetophobic! I wonder how many more celebs have this (because I am sure there are many more) but haven't fessed up! Edited by: NCsmile6

hello, it's my first post. Actually, hearing Denise Richards last night on Leno made me FINALLY know I was not alone..I have been suffering from this for as long as I can remember!!! Her talking about burning her chicken for god forbid she'd get salmonella really struck a chord and caused me to do a google search, which is where I found this forum. I can't believe there are so many users here! I guess I'm not crazy after all...if you're here denise under an alias or something THANKS

ps- I thought Leno was a bit rude to her about it.

I've noticed through experience that alot of people are rude about it. I don't know how many times I've told someone about it just to get a "FAKE WRETCH" in my face. Stuff like that is really disrespectful.

I think it's kinda funny that Denise Richards is Emet, because when she was in Starship Troopers there is a scene where they are disecting a GIANT bug and she V's. I wonder how she handled fake V'ing. I suppose it's all acting or something. I don't even think I could fake it though.

Wasn't she also in that movie about beauty pagents where everybody gets food poisoning and is v*ing everywhere? That really was awful.

Yes she is in that movie, but she is not in that scene.

The starship troopers part must have been challenging, but atleast I now know that there's no way it was real.

Ah yes, I saw her too. But got her mixed up with another actress on another thread. Duh!

    It was cool.

Yeah i remember watching Drop Dead Gorgeous and being shocked she could be in that even when it is faked. I'm in the UK but right now I am downloading the show and will try and put up a clip so everyone here can see it. I always heard she was emet, in a weird way I'm glad it's true as it is good to hear of someone so successful being that way too. FYI Kate Beckinsale also once said in an interview that she can't cope when her kid V* and jokes that she needs cigerettes and a floatation tank to calm down afterwards.
