Hi all. This morning my stepmum was complaining of a "bad stomach" and I managed not to get freaked out (*proud*) and later she said she was pretty sure it was cos of her period starting today. However this evening we were just talking and she said she's not going to see her nana in hospital in case her d* is something contagious because she doesn't want to go taking something into the hospital.

Do you think it's just because of her period? And also, is d* really contagious anyway? Can't you only get it through direct contact with faeces, and not from, say, inhaling odour from in the bathroom? She put my tea in the oven and may have possibly been the one to have dished it up too so am I at risk?

    Thanks guys...

I think that d* is highly contagious especially if she isn't careful with washing her hands very well after she goes to the bathroom. I would make sure that all the door knobs are cleaned with bleach and just keep washing your hands. I believe that a person is also contagious up to 72 hours after the last d* movement, so be careful. Of course, if she just ate something that didn't agree with her I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Well she doesn't work and doesn't really leave the house except to go to the shops or to take the kids to school so I don't really see where she could have picked up a bug. If there was a bug the kids would have had it first because they would have brough it home from school. SO I'm thinking either it really is something to do with her period or something she ate. What do you think?

It is totally possible that her period is what triggered the attack of d*. It's a very common side effect that I know I've experienced during that wonderful time of the month. Maybe she could take an anti-d* medication to help stop it. I'm sure you are going to be just fine. I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks. I hope you're right. These days I seem to fear d* almost as much as v* so as you can imagine I'm really quite scared.

Just to make you feel better, if she did have a sv, d* doesnt necessarily mean that you will v*. Of the 2 possibilities, I prefer d* anyday. Just keep strong, you will be ok.

I don't think I have a preference. I'd have a panic at either. I've just been talking to my dad, heoriginally saidshe thinks it may be a stomach bug, and I said I don't know where she would have got it from because unless the kids brought something into the house I can't see where it would have got in. He said yeah he agrees and that she hasn't felt/been sick, so he thinks its probably something to do with her period. So why would he have said in the first place that he thinks it's a bug? Sorry to go on about this but I'm really quite scared. I really need to go pee! but I daren't because she's just left the bathroom and I always assume that if I smell the odour (sorry), then I've inhaled particles and will be ill.

Well I don't think she had d* during the night but she said she still had cramps this morning. I've just got home and she said she's had to take some immodium to stop the d* but is still having cramps. Do you think it was something she ate? Wouldn't somebody else be ill by now if it was contagious?
