Ok this has happened twice this week! First off I have not v* in over 14 years. I am now 24.

Well twice this week I have eaten pepperoni pizza (my favorite) and have fallen asleep within an hour of eating it. Both times I woke up with a throat full of acid or v*. I actually tasted it and it freaked me out. I did not panic I was just really confused. I instantly swallowed (gross, but it did not make it to my mouth, just the back of my throat). But the taste is haunting me now. I have not tasted that taste in 14 years and it scared me. I did not have a panic attack though. Thank god. I wasn't n* at all.

So I then looked up acid reflux and they claim rarely people have that at night. I think I might just stay away from pizza and not eat within 2 hours of going to bed. I'm not paranoid....Just weirded out.

    Anyone else have this?

I disagree. People most often get acid reflux at night because they are laying down. That definitely sounds like what is wrong with you. I have had it before from various things if I lay down right away. I don't think you need to give up pizza, but I wouldn't go to sleep so soon after eating it. Have you tried Zantac? It works WONDERS! Take it about 30-45 minutes before you eat anything spicy, and it will help prevent that from happening. Also, if you prop yourself up a little bit while you sleep it can help. If you find this to be happening a lot, you should see a doctor. They can precribe something for you to take everyday.

Yes...when someone has acid reflux (me) the worst is at night and early morning. If you take something like Zantac you should take it like Sillygirl said and you can take it at bedtime.

Here is some information that it easy to read:

I think your problems lies in eating so soon before you go to sleep. On the occasions I have eaten late at night and then gone to bed I have suffered terribly with acid reflux. I have to make sure I don't even lieback relaxing for at least an hour after eating (my fiance can lie down straight after eating anything and never suffers, but not me!). It's best to try and eat your evening meal at least four hours before bed. If it's late and you feel hungry eat something light (crackers are good) instead, so it's easier on your stomach.

Im the same as tcsarah, i have to eat really early usually between 6
and 7 or i get really bad acid reflux when i lay down, even if you dont
suffer from it its a good idea to eat a good few hours before going to
    bed anyway, to aid digestion.

I tend not to eat after 8...

my friends used to get annoyed with me...as we wud go to mcdonnalds at 9...and i wudnt have anything...even if i was really hungry...i still do it now..

ive never had acid reflux...and if i did i probly wud freak out...I have felt sick after eating and then goin to bed straight after...so i dont eat after 8 anymore...sometimes even 7 if im not feelin too well...

i watch what i eat...eg meat...mcdonalds ( i dont eat the burgers ) cos im scared if they arnt cooked properly...

maybe it was something in the pizza that isnt agreeing well with your body... was it the same make of pizza? ..maybe you shud try a different brand...or like others have said...try not to eat before going to sleep..

If it is only the pizza that you eat that affects you..then maybe trying a differnt brand may help...or just not eating pizza before bed time...

Yes I have suffered from acid reflux or gastritis for a few years now. I only developed it when I was about 21. With me, I often felt like I was going to puke. It was awful. But as others already mentioned, there is mild medication out there for it and I just changed my eating habits ever so slightly - less coffee, no eating after 7pm, drinking lots of water with meals etc. Now I'm grand! Hurray..You'll still be able to enjoy your pizzas I assure you.

Thanks everyone!!!! I ate pizza last night (minus the pepperoni)and I tried to fight sleeping but I gave in. No reflux! I am going to try to be more careful but after a large meal I feel like I am about to lapse in a coma no matter what time of day it is. I hate it! I think too my reflux could be related to my nerves lately.

I had a rough month of stomach viruses around work and with all that worrying I probably made my stomach so acidic.

Anxiety can definitely cause acid reflux, it's what usually happens to me when I'm all worked up about something. Other things like wearing things round your waist too tight - trousers, belts etc can also cause it.

i cant eat before i go to sleep or take a nap or even lie down. i have to sit up for a while then go to sleep, to let everything digest itself. this happens to me with every type of food. not just pizza. maybe let yourself have more time before you lie down

You can eat the pizza just make sure that you don't eat it late at night. I help out at a pizza place and when I started that is all I ate. I have the same thing and the taste in the throat can be gross. I just chew on a rolaid soft chew if it becomes too much. I take medication in the morning for it. I make sure I drink plenty of water during the day trying to lay of the tea and pop.
