As I am typing this...my poor co worker...bless her soul...is pregnant and as with her first one...she is beginning to V her brains out....she's been 4 times within about 15 min....I feel so bad for her...and she is taking it very well so far...it lasted the whole 9 months last time...so it will probably will again.....i feel so sorry for her....and amazingly enough I am perfectly calm with it going on right in front of me....i guess it's b/c i know she is not contagious....otherwise i would be freaking out by now......K

Yep - I know the fact that it's not contagious would prevent me from being terrified. Poor thing - I have a good friend who was that sick. I honestly don't know how she was able to function. They only have one child and I think that her being so sick with the first pregnancy is part of the reason. I wonder if you just get desensitized to v'g when you do it that much?

I doubt that...I felt ill every single day I was pregnant, but, part of that was probably the emet thing and fear of V*ing. I did gag in the shower several times, but I must say, that it isn't the same as actually having an SV. You aren't really sick...just feel a little yuck and you do get used to the feel, but, now, 4 years later, I would not do the pregnancy thing again. I can't forget that yuck feel, but it was worth it.

Yes...i think she is probably used to it....but she hates it very much...she says so....and the poor thing is so sweet...and she was soooooooooo excited to be pregnant again....i think this was the first time she has been sick with this one...just alot of nausea....so maybe it won't be an everyday thing...at least i hope not for her sake.....she is pitiful.....i think that if i had to go through that being preg....i would only do it once...i guess i got out extremely lucky with my 2....never got sick once....thank the lord....i may not have had my baby Nathan.....

If I get pregnant and I'm that sick then I don't even KNOW how I would carry the child. But at least you're not freaking out or anything...good for you.

Poor thing....can relate. I was pretty sick with my son, and I did actually become desensitized to it after a while. After a couple of weeks I would wake up, sit there, wait to p*ke, and then once that happened I would start my day. I actually only v*ed until 18 weeks (started at 5 weeks), but had to stay on the anti-emetics the whole pregnancy b/c if I stopped those pills, the m/s just came back.

Yet, I want more! I actually think I may be pg right now. Although this is a VERY BAD TIME! I am scared to death and somehow excited. My due date would be June 10, 2006! I will see in a few days though!

Hopefullt your co-worker feels better as time goes on. But, I know from experience it is all worth it!

    Crystal

PS...Yay! You are being very calm about it, which is thankful, b/c I couldn't deal with that everyday if it did bother me. It wouldn't if I knew it was m/s though.

There are also meds doctors can give pregnant women to stop the nausea and vomiting. I wonder if she has asked her doc about it?

Hey all...thought I would type a quick post to let you know that I am NOT pregnant. This is a good thing though, since we were not trying. I am a bit sad though. I kinda wanted it, even though I know this would be very bad timing, and would change so many things (we are just going to move in together). Didn't want him to think I was trapping him or anything. So, that is that. When we do try, I'll let you know!

I'm sorry Crystal. I know how you feel. I keep taking tests and they keep coming up negative, but I still haven't started. I spotted for a few days about a week ago, then it stopped for a few days, I spotted again for a few days, and now nothing again. I don't know what is going on with me. I called my doctor and she told me that the tests are really accurate so if it says I'm not, then I'm not. But I have never been this late before! I am 12 days late, which may not seem like much, but it is driving me crazy!

Hopefully it will come for both of us when we are ready.

Would your doctor do a blood test on you just to make sure? I spotted some with my last baby ...........

I'm sure she would if I pushed the issue. I called, mainly to make an appointment for my annual exam. I just thought I would ask how long I should wat before I came in for a test if the home ones were still negative. She said the blood test would say the same thing as the pee test - just maybe tell you more about how far along you are.

Let me make a correction here - it was the NURSE that told me all this, not the doctor. Maybe she just doesn't know what she's talking about. I have now talked to a few people who said it took a couple of weeks after their missed period for a home test to be positive. If I haven't started by next week, I will call the doctor back.

I always thought that a blood test would detect the pregnancy hormore earlier than the at home tests, or that if you keep getting negative results at home. The blood test can also tell you about how far along you are too. Ive always been told that the pregnancy hormone will show up in your blood earlier than in your urine, and for some women, it just takes longer to show up in their urine.

There is still hope. My aunt/best friend came up negative with her two oldest, so much so, that they did an ultrasound b/c she had symptoms, and the pee test came up negative. They can tell earlier if you are pg with a blood test, and how far along you are. And, not that I took any offence, but I am taking nursing, and they are pretty knowledgable. Plus, this was probably an RN, so VERY 'in the know'. Anyway, they may be accurate most of the time, but not always. I have two great cousins from negative home pg tests!!

    Kate
I hear what you are saying, I wouldn't be freaking out knowing that this is the situation. Stella is right she can get dehydrated. My sister was like that with both pregnancies and was put on medication.
Over the weekend we had the fall fair here and Tyler and his friend went on a ride, his friend was white. He felt better later and they went on another ride, the salt n pepper, 2 times around and you can guess what happened!. It wasn't pretty. Tyler stayed so cool. One of many things he said to his friend, oh man why didn't you bring out your barf bag? The friends comment, I didnt have time.
Crystal, I have a friend who took the pee test- came out neg. Went to the doctor had a blood test came out neg. She got her period but it was very light, she started with the sickeness and chalked it up to the flu. Finally she couldnt deal with it anymore, went to the doctor and she asked him to test for pregnancy. He was reluctant because of her "period" and the test came back positive. Now her baby is 9. Good luck.

Crystal, I didn't mean anything negative about nursing. My mother in law is a nurse (although a pediatrics nurse) and she is very knowledgeable. They pretty much have to learn all the same stuff as doctors anyway. I kind of just got the feeling that she was brushing me off. She probably gets a million calls a day about people "thinking" they are pregnant and wastes tons of time testing them just to find out they are negative.

Last might I had a dream that I went to the doctor and the test came up positive. In the dream, I told my husband and we were both so excited. I know this sounds weird, but when I woke up I thought maybe it was a "sign" so I took another test and, again, negative. What should I do? Should I make an appointment anyway for the bloood test? Should I wait one more week? As of today, I am 13 days late. I just hate all this waiting. Help! I need advice!

I think you do need a blood test....my friend and co worker measured 7-8 weeks just yesterday and she had already taken 2-3 home tests that all said negative...so it does happen...i would demand a blood test. She may be even furthur than that...she has to go back in 2 weeks...the heartbeat was strong though...and her last pregnancy lasted in miscarraige...so she's a bit nervous now. She had an internal ultrasound yesterday and they told her the heartbeat was strong so that's a good sign....i think you very well could be pregnant....do what your gut tells you....i would get a blood test for sure....

Rhonda...i bet that was a nightmare at the fair.....now that might have freaked me out....so far my friend here is doing ok...not v anymore so far....i feel sorry for her...b/c she seems to feel sick all the time...but just doesn't actually v......K

Hey sillygirl, I would go in and get the blood test. Just be sure. I mean, maybe there is a chance your hormones aren't high enough to show up, and a blood test is way more accurate. If that comes up negative, I would go to the doc. Do you normally have irregular periods? Probably not, thinking you are 13 days late. Any symptoms of pg?? If you are 2 weeks late, that would make you around 5-6 weeks pg, and that is usally when the sypmtoms really come out (not necessarliy m/s), but how about your boobs? Do you have an increased sense of smell? Hell I could smeel a pine tree 2 blocks away!!! Do you pee alot?

Sometimes when you are pg, your dreams become much more vivid, and more real. Especially later on! Maybe it is a sign, and you should definately do the blood test!

Baby dust to you! Good luck, and totally let us know!!! Your due date would be around what mine would have been!!!

Sometimes I have wondered if I have had an increased sense of smell, but just here and there, not all around. My boobs were kind of sore a week or so ago, but now they aren't. I haven't really had to pee any more than usual either - so I would say not really any pg symptoms! Which is another thing that is making me hesitiate . . .
