I know that a few of the women here have PCOS so I figured maybe I could vent...

My period is pretty late this month and I'm so upset about it!

This means that my doctor will probably up my medication. That's such a
backward step too becase a few months ago we were trying to take me off
it permanently. When my hormone test came back though my testosterone
levels were going up again (they weren't high yet but they were higher
then last time) so she put me back on it.

Since I'm late it probably means they've gone up to a high level now.
Oh I'm going to skip I just know it! That hasn't happened since I first
    started treatment (5 years ago)

I know I brought it on myself by eating too much junk food but it's so depressing!

Can you tell me more about PCOS? I know I have a high level of testosterone because I was tested (because I have some extra..um...hair in places I shouldn't) and they just put me on the pill. I also used to get horrible cramps and the pill took them right away. What exactly is PCOS and what could happen if I have it and have done nothing about it (other than the pill)?

Here's some more information about it: http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pcos.htm

That site answers pretty much everything that you asked.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago, though I don't think mine is as severe as some other people's. The last time my hormones were checked, everything was normal. I have had 2 pelvic ultrasounds that revealed small cysts on my ovaries and I tend to have irregular periods. Birth control pills regulated my periods but made me feel worse. Since I discontinued them a year ago, I have been doing better. My periods are still somewhat irregular and I have found that I have worse acne. I have been told that I'm not your typical PCOS patient since the only significant thing is the multiple cyts on the ultrasound. I'm going to be seeing a reproductive endocrinologist soon and I'm sure that they will probably start me on some sort of medication to make me ovulate and have regular periods.

    Hi everyone !!!

Ihave PCOS. I found out about 7 years ago after trying for a baby. It took us 4 and a half years to conceive. I had to have my left fallopian tube removed too. I was put on clomid to make me ovulate as my periods were months apart.

Since having my son 3 years ago (it's his 3rd birthday on the 27th sept) I have fallenpregnant naturallyanother 3 times. They told me that pregnancy can all but cure PCOS. My periods are regular now but I still have thinning hair on my head and hairs where I shouldn't have them. Apart from that I think that it may have gone but I havn't had my testosterone levels checkedfor about 7years now.

Need to know anything please ask. I will try to help as best I can.

Thinking of all my fellow PCOS sufferers
