I am starting to panic now. My friend at work said her son v* in the middle of the night last night. SHe said it was all just clear liquid. He had gotten up and chugged a bunch of water. He v* 3 hours later, she said like 5 or 6 times but all within a really short time period. He went back to sleep and has been fine ever since. I figured it was probably just too much water sitting in his stomach while he was sleeping or something - but probably NOT a sv. So, she asked if I wanted to go with her at lunch so I did.

We just ran a couple of errands and I picked up a baked potato at Wendy's. I came back to work, ate my potato and yogurt and then as I was walking by her later she told me that while we were gone she got a call from her daycare and her other son now is v* and has d*. So it probably was a sv after all! Now I am scared that I will get it. Should I be worried? Do you thinkshe was carrying the sv?Her son v* in her bedlast night and I guess it wasall over the place. SHe was the one who cleaned him up and cleaned up their bed. I am scared. Help!

From what I have read and their is much controversy over this...A person is not contagious until they start to show symptoms. I dont believe you can get it from her because her kids are sick. She may not even get it!

Try to relax, I know its hard

Now my hubby says he doesn't feel good. He thinks it's the Ramen Noodles he had for lunch. I feel like I'm surrounded! At home, at work. I can't escape!

Good advice, Madisonsmom. Now I will get on my soap box. Behavior like your co-worker'sreally pisses me off. I am sorry, but if your kid v's 5 x's at night, he is clearly sick and NOT ready to go to school a few hours later. This woman's actions shows she is thoughtless not only about her own son (how do you like to go to school/work when you are sick), but other children and parents. She has exposed god knows how many other kids to the virus, which means that other children and parents have to deal with it. I hope the half-a-day she got to work was worth it. Sorry - this is a hot button for me though.

Well, my co-worker's son that v*d in the middle of the night was fine all day at school. Completely back to normal - eating, playing everything. The other son, that v*d at school, was fine after he v*d that one time. If it is a sv, it is literally like a two hour flu. Neither one had fevers or any other symptoms.

I am still worried I am getting it, although if I were to get a sv it seems like a fairly easy one to get since it is so short lived. My stomach feels off. I can't tell if I am n* or hungry or what. I didn't eat dinner last night because I was stressing about this and my husband not feeling well.

My husband is coming to meet me for lunch in about 10 minutes. I am worried about eating because I don't know if I am sick. I guess I will just try to eat something light and small.

I went to Quiznos with my husband and the second I walked in felt so n*. Just smelling the food made be feel worse. I just got a Sprite and he got a sandwich to go. I have been back at work for about an hour now, and my stomach is kind of growling. I think I need to eat but the thought of food just makes me n*. I don't have any crackers or anything with me to munch on. Nothing soods good. I hate feeling like this.

Sillygirl, I know you're stressed out about possibly getting sick. This is coming way out of left field here, but haven't you been trying to get pregnant? One of my first symptoms was that smells made me nauseaus. Just had to ask Back on the subject at hand. I know that it's stressful to hear when everyone around you is sick, but just try to think about all of the times that you may have been infected and fought it off. Honestly, we are probably in contact daily with things that could make us sick, but our bodies help us to fight it off. Try really hard to think positively.

On the other subject... It's in my daughter's handbook for school that they may not return to school unless ALL diarhea and vomiting has subsided for AT LEAST 24 hours. So, I am having to agree with everyone else that kids who vomit in the middle of the night (even if it doesn't seem like it's from a virus) should not return to school the following morning. I understand that the kid who went to school was fine, but I think SV's are spread so easily because even though they SEEM fine after, they are still shedding the virus and quite contagious.

Shiva - you actually aren't really coming out of left field there. We are trying to get pregnant. I have been kind of irregular with my period since I got off the pill, one month I had a 33 day cycl and the next I had a 34 day cycle. Today is my 34th day of this cycle and still nothing. I am not getting too excited htough, because I do feel like I have period "symptoms." I have had a little bit of cramping and my usual IBS-like problems. So it is a possibility, but I don't want to get my hopes up yet.

I agree with you all about sending the kids back to school so soon. I would never do that and it would really bother me if a kid my child's class went back so soon. What was strange was when the one v*d in school, the nurse called and said he technically didn't have to go home because he wasn't running a fever. He is only 2 1/2 so he got really upset and wouldn't stop crying because he had been sick. THat was really the only reason he had to leave. I thought that was ridiculous! The nurse said he is only contagious if he has a fever. We ALL know that isn't necessarily true! I can't believe a nurse would say that!

I guess people who aren't like us look at it like it's no big deal. Can you imagine feeling that way?

I will keep my fingers crossed for you on the other subject

Well I took a test yesterday and it was negative, but I still haven't started. Maybe it's just too early to test? Does anyone know the best home pregnancy test? What picks up the lowest amount of the hormone?

spilled_milk - I ordered those on the internet the other day (I was buying more of my anti viral handwash and needed to buy more to get my free shipping & they wre cheaper than in the store) but they won't be here until Monday. I guess I will just have to wait until Monday then because I don't want to go out and buy more if they are on their way. I bought some cheap ones and tried one of those, but I wonder how well it worked - it was a store brand.

madisonsmom - what kinds of symptoms did you have, if you don't mind me asking? I had what felt like some mild cramps a few days ago, but now I feel more sharp pains. It could be a lot of things. I have IBS, and it always flares up when I don't eat well - which I haven't been lately. I also have kidney stones, so I suppose it could be related to that, but I doubt it because it feel much different than passing a stone. I have been kind of constipated lately, so my guess is that is the true cause. I am a big worrier though, so of course I start wondering if I could have an ectopic pregnancy or something. But if I did I probably wouldn't feel pain yet anyways?

I just hate not knowing. I am afraid to take anything for it in case I am pregnant, but feel yucky lately has given me more panic attacks than usual - includung a really big one yesterday when I went to lunch with my hubby. Luckily he is really understanding about it and did evrything he could to get me better. I just want to know, either way!

I felt like I was going to start...I had pains too. My bb's were sore too. I was having food aversions. I would get nauseous at the smell of certain foods. Some of my favorite foods that I loved I did not want while I was pregnant.

The earliest symptoms were the cramping and sore boob's.

My boobs have been a little sore, but off and on. It's more like sharp pains rather than just sore. Somwhat tender to the touch, but not always. I know that can be a sign of your period too, but I never really get sore there at all with my period. I took the last store bought test I had and it was negative too. The line, though, was really light. This one had two boxes, the control line and then the + or - sign. The control line was really dark, but the - was really faint. Is that normal? Shouldn't it be darker?

It isn't the positive line. There is the little control line which is dark, then in the other window a - line appears. It is only a positive if the + sign appears. I meant the - line is light. And since the positive line is usually (at least that's what I've heard) even lighter than the first line, I wondered if it just isn't picking anything up.

I feel awful tonight. My husband and I went to help his dad bring home a new washer, and I was getting kind of crampy - but not period crampy. Then his dad wanted to take us out to dinner for helping him. I really didn't want to eat because I feel kind of n*, but I thought I should 1) so I wasn't being rude and 2) because I haven't eaten much today. Ever since I ate it's not been feeling good at all. More of the cramps and stronger n*. It kind of feels like gas but I'm not sure. Ugh, I just feel awful . . .

Hang in there! You will find out sooner or later. Heck, I have had 5 kids, and I must have bought 5 tests with each one,(even after I missed my period) before I even saw a faint positive!! So there is still hope! Charlotte

I tried a first response test and it was negative too. I am so impatient!

Now I am getting weird pains in my stomach. They are mainly on my right side, like just inside my hip bone. THe pain at one point was radiating around my hip and a little down my leg. I have had kidney stones before, but this doesn't feel like that. I am a little nervous about what it could be, although I don't think it is bad enough yet to go to the emergency room or anything.

Now I am getting a little n* but I don't know if it is from the pain or anxiety. It is kind of off and on. It feels a little better when I move around. I think I am constipated too, so I am wondering if that is causing it? But on the other hand I am worried that maybe there is something wrong that is coinciding with me mising my period- not pregnancy but maybe something else?Whatever it is, it doesn't feel like period cramps . . .
