Well today I was in my GCSE Food class at school and we were studying microbiology and prevention of food poisoning in the food industry. It was nothing we hadn't heard before; wash hands, wear protective clothing yadda yadda and then we watched a video.

We didn't know what this video was about, our teacher is a person of few words, and it was just titled "Food Safety". We soon found out what it was about though. It opened with a person being sick into a toilet and then the camera zooming in on the toilet bowl.

    Lovely!

Luckily I'm ok with others being sick and also, when the showed the bowl, it didn't look like anything whatsoever. In fact it just looked like a toilet after someone had urinated in. With a bit of red colour. (Random).

But anyway, I was no more disgusted/surprised than my other classmates which surprised me because as far as I know, I'm the only emet in my class/year/school. So, has anyone else had a similar incident? Where things actually turn out better than you thought they would with your emet and you surprise yourself? Brighten my day!

I forgot to mention actually, the video turned out to be a video given by the government to employers in the food industry on food poisoning and how to prevent it.

How showing a person being sick actually aided the point of this video, I don't know :P, I don't think I'll veer know in fact, but hey.

I had one of those moments the other day. I overheard on of my coworkers in the next cubicle talking about getting food poisoning the night before and how he was up all night. I expected myself to panic, but it didn't bother me. I just went about my business. very unusual for me

Congrats! It always gives you a great sense of achievement when you don't let it bother you, doesn't it?

    Well done!

That sounds like an unnecessary addition to the video. Gross. I am more afraid of other people being sick, so it would have bothered me.

I'd say it was a shock effect to impress upon viewers the effects of mishandling food. Since it got a reaction from the non-emet viewers, it sounds like it served its purpose.
