Well my mother has just started her new job today, so she left the house quite early. Normally this wouldn't be a problem as she left at a quarter toeight am GMT, and normally I'd be going to school at that time, but I have to be at school later today (1 and a half hours from now).

So I'm all alone in the house basically apart from my dad whom I've been told under no circumstances to wake. I feel really ill again, as I did last night but I know I have to go to school today because it's the first day, and if you miss it, you miss getting everything- your timetable, new books, notices, letters etc.

I guess I'm worried that I'll go to school and get sick really. I hate the idea of being sick in front of everyone. I would be so mortified. Can anyone tell me what is a good thing to eat for lunch when you feel sick? Because for breakfast now I'm picking my way through a bowl of strawberries, but I eat lunch at school. Should I eat maybe an apple or a plain roll or something?

Ideally I don't feel like I could eat anything but I know I must because I cycle to and from school. Thank-you

I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier to offer you some support. I remember the first days back to school after the holidays and shudder. I suffered quite a bit with agorophobia (as well as emetophobia of course)even growing up and I remember stopping inside for the whole two weeks Easter holidays and the morningI had to leave the house for school was truly horrible. I felt so sick with nerves.

I'm sure the nausea you were feeling was from 1st day nerves and that once you are back at school and into the swing of things you will be fine.

When I feel nauseous due to anxiety but know I've got to eat something I stick to plain foods like lightly buttered toast, crackers, or an apple. Or I find things like boiled rice , mashed potato or soup are easier foods to eat. I make sure I have a glass of water to help wash things down. Avoid fatty, greasy, sugary or salty foods when you feel nauseous.

Please let us know how your day was.

I've been feeling nauseous every night till the first day of school...so i'm pretty sure that what you're feeling is just anxiety nausea. I definitely stick to light foods, i know they havent got a lot of those at schools (lol) crackers, breads, apples, nothing citrusy.i avoid things like hamburgers, although sometimes fries help with my nausea for some strange reason. so just stick to a light food diet. also, as tcsarah said, haave water to wash it down. also, sometimes nausea is caused by dehydration, so water would help. good luck, i know you'll be great!

Thank-you, it's now quarter to six in the evening. While I don't exactly feel better- I feel happier knowing I've been to school and got everything out of the way.

It's a shame that I still feel ill, but I'm going to have rice for dinner which should be ok. I'm gonna keep drinking too- although this morning it made it slightly worse.
