My husband has a habit of making himself gag

every single time he brushes his teeth!! I have to

go to the absolute other end of our home - pluging

my ears. He says he has a small throat and can't

help it. He also dry heaves when he's trying to

swallow pills or vitamins!! I don't get it - I can swallow

10 horse pills in one shot if I had to - no problem.

I can also shove a toothbrush down my throat and

control my gag reflex!! I can't, however, control it

    when he</span> does that - my anxiety goes through the</span><br style="text-decorati&#111;n: underline;">
    roof!! </span>

Am I just weird or is there anyone else out there

    who can relate?</span></span></span></span></span></font></span>

Big thing my ex-husband used to do that made me ill was that gross "clearing of the throat", phlemy thing. That drove me throught the roof!!!!

I have a pretty strong gag reflex so I know that it is really hard to
control something like that. However, I agree that it isn't necessary
to stick your toothbrush back so far that you gag because back that far
it hurts even with soft toothbrushes. Atleast it does for me.

Sometimes I gag when I try and clean my wisdom teeth properly or when I brush my tongue too far back, but I know I'm not going to v* from it so it doesn't bother me.

Would it help if you knewyourhusband definitely wouldn't v* from brushing his teeth (I'm 100% sure he won't), or is it just the sound (and associations) that bothers you?

So gross. Makes you wish he had false teeth, just take them out and brush them, no more hearing him gag!!

I can't even have the end of a pen or pencil barely in my lips without gagging. I could never brush my tongue.

    Thanks!

I just wanted to know if it was just me

tcsarah - I think you're right. It just freaks me out.

My husband has never v* from doing it - as a matter

    of fact he's never v* since I've known him - 11 years!

I guess I'm also worried that one of these days he will

get sick - and he already knows that I won't be there

    to comfort him.
