Only one time though. He was fine...he ate breakfast and then ate a bunch of chips and about an hour later he was c/o his stomach hurting. About 3pm he v*. I was there to comfort him because he freaks when he feels sick. He is like me. I was rubbing his back telling him it was ok because he was trying to hold it in and the reflex was too strong. He did it and felt better. He has been fine ever since. I had to clean it up. I used gloves and Lysol. I am washing the sheets and towels in hot bleach water. I am just wondering if I will get sick because I was right beside him when he did it...rubbing his back.

Afterwards he says..."that wasnt that bad". He was ready to eat like an hour later. He had soup for dinner and is doing fine. I dont know if he has a sv or just an upset tummy. I dont know if its contagious. I am really coping well actually. I have been exposed to it so its a waiting game. It just sucks because of the sickness we all just went through.Edited by: madisonsmom

If it was a stomach virus he wouldn't be feeling better an hour later! So be assured with the thought that your son may have just ate more than he should!!!

Yeah, doesnt sound like an sv, especially if he didnt have a fever or diarrhea, they usually go together. Still a good idea to lysol all areas, just in case, that sv season is almost here...I have to learn to stay calm when I hear everybody saying the standard " it's going around, everybody has it" that is when you know it is full blown winter/sv germ season!!

Deb I think you are fine, he didn't spray any stuff your way. The times that I have been with my kids while they are vomiting not once did I get it. You did the lysol clean up like I did.
    You did great!!!

If it helps, I have never caught a sv from my kids - even after close contact like you had. Hang in there! Also, I remember reading that stomach bugs can screw up a child's digestive system for some time even after they are over it. Some can even become lactose intolerant for a time. It is possible that your son's stomach just couldn't handle the chips etc. after recovering from the bacterial infection your family all had. I am so sorry - this part of raising kidssucks! Sorry - there is just no other word for it. I wonder if some day there will be a vaccination for sv's - at least the worst ones.
