Okay I'm home for the weekend and my mom made chicken parmesan, which I
used to make all the time whe I lived at home but this time it
tastes....different. My mom said she didn't notice anything and if it
were bad she would notice also right?

I just finished the last piece by basically forcing myself to chew,
swallow, repeat. I just can't get it out of my head that the different
taste was a sign that I shouldn't eat it. It's driving me crazy! What
can I do?

Did you ask your mum if she did make it differently? I know that sometimes my mum's food tastes different depending on where she buys the meat from... once she made a dish she always makes and it tasted different and I refused to eat alot of it because I was worried that the meat was bad. Also if you BOTH noticed something was up with it then I guess there would be more reason to worry but mum said it was fine so there is your reassurance!!

did you say that you used to make it all the time? if you did, your mum made it this time, it's going to taste slighly different cuz she will have her own touchto it. i dont think you have anything to worry about. and if you haven't eaten a certain food for a while they can taste different because your taste buds do change with time.

so, you might be losing your sense of taste but not your lunch

(just incase you didn't get my sarcasm i was just joking about you losing your sense of taste )

Hehe, no it's okay Siren I got your joke and I actually laughed outloud at it.

You guys are right, I was of course fine and now with my rational mind
working it makes perfect sense that it tastes a little different with
someone else making it. She's more precise about measuring then I am,
and she often uses regular vegtable oil in recipies where I use the
olive oil, and, unlike me, she doesn't cook the living holy hell out of
a piece of chicken "just to be extra sure" to kill all the germs.
