I went into work today, first off i went into the staff room and a woman i work with was in there, so i sat down and chatted with ther for five and asked if she was going to a surprise 40th party of one of the women from work tonight and she said didntknow cuz her daughter has had a sickness bug and wanted to see how she was i!

I totally freaked out and couldnt concentrate on my work. i was just thinking"she may be carrying the bugwith her, what if i catch it off her"

    What do u guys think?

I read that with stomach bugs, they are only contagious ifsomeone has symptoms-like if the woman herself was v*ing.

    Woodsy,

You will be fine. I hate hearing things like that as well, especially after I have been talking to someone who has been exposed. I have done so much research on catching the stomach bug that I think I can safely tell you that unless you touched her and then put your hands in your mouth you will be fine. I have learned that the virus is passed by touching someone with the germ and touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Also if you are actually with someone that is v*ing itis possible to get it by the water vapors in the air immediately after they have v*ed. I had another bad day at school yesterday b/c another of my students v* in my classroom. I washed my hands, sprayed lysol and used my purell throughout the day. I have been a basketcase today thinking I am going to get it. I understand your fear, believe me. It sucks!!! Try not to worry. Just stay busy. Murphy

So, if no one is having symptoms, you should be fine, right? My ma in law has been sick, but my pa in law hasnt yet, but we had a low country boil over at my bro in laws house tonight, and he helped with the cooking. AND, I did eat ................... I sure hope I dont regret it.

woodsy, I think you will be ok, since the woman you work with wasnt actually sick herself.

Yeh like I said woodsy, if shes not exhibing any symptoms then you won't need to worry. Its not as contagious as the flu for example, it needs to be transmitted by touch like someone else has said!

Thing is people have told me so much rubbish in the past like people carry it etc i dont know what to believe!

All last night i felt like a real nervous feeling inside, and woke up with it too, is that just my anxiety? Also i do get the odd twingey sort of pain in my stomach which started last night and happens when im thinking on it too much, maybe the anxiety is mimiccing it?

Thanks for all ur replies, keep it up!

the mind is verypowerful, don't underestimate it. I have done psychology and read studies where people where given placebo drugs... the reality was they weren't really drugs just imitations yet the participants of the study felt the 'side-effects' of the drugs!! It goes to show that we ourselves can make ourselves ill very easily... so thinking about your stomach means you'll concentrate on whats going on in there more... and any little twinge or pain will freak you out. I'm sure your anxiety is the culprit here, not a stomach virus!
