As well as peppermint and ginger, also spearmint. It's possible to buy herbal travel sickness tablets containing ginger. This is what it says in my herbalism book: "Ginger in all forms, tea, tincture, decoction, candied, or just chewing a small piece of fresh root helps. A ginger compress over the stomach helps if the nausea is due to tension and spasm. For persisitant nausea, use liver rememdies and seek advice."

Some essential oils used in aromatherapy can help alleviate nausea, try putting a few drops of cardomon, fennel, lavender, nutmeg, peppermint, ginger or coriander on a handkerchief and breathe the aroma in.

I use something called Ipeca, and I find it works well. You can buy it at the natropathic stores.
