I was starving all morning. I didn't feel well last night so I didn't eat inner and I was running late this morning so I didn't get to grab any breakfast. At lunch I went with a girl from work to this sandwich place. I got what I usually get (Ham and Swiss) and then I saw this fruit salad they had that looked really good. So I went back and ordered some of the fruit salad - once I got back to work to eat it it didn't look as fresh. I ate some of it and then I saw some of the lettuce and cabbage from the salad that was next to it in the case which is no big deal, but on the other side was a tuna salad. Now I am worrying that maybe some of the fish got into the fruit and may not have been kept cold long enough or whatever. I don't know why I am freaking out about this so bad. I ended up throwing most of the fruit out and wasting a bunch of money. Why do I keep worrying about everything?!?!?!?!?!

I know that I've tossed a lot of stuff that I paid for and that made a lot of people mad but I can't help it. If I'm afraid it's going to make me sick then there is noo way I'm going to eat it.

I don't think you need to worry. If you normally get ham and cheese and you've never had problems with that then you should be fine because it is all the same refridgeration system. Also tuna that they make sandwiches out of comes in tins, and I don't know about where youare but here tinned tuna is sold from the shelf, you don't have to keep it cold except once it's been opened and even then you have a couple days or so. I'd assume they sell a lot over the course of a lunch time so they probably keep renewing it and it won't have been sat long enough to go off. All it could do if it contaminated the fruit would be to taste unpleasant, not make you ill. You'll be fine, I'm sure. Chin Up.

No my stomach is kind of cramping. I feel terrible. It's probably all just anxiety, but it still fees horrible. I have been feeling like this a lot lately. I also have a lot of stress going on in my life at the moment which I'm sure isn't helping. I'm going to go with my husband and take the dogs for ahike now. Maybe the exercise will help curb the anxiety.

I'd say its just anxiety, sillygirl. I'm the same, I worry and worry about what I eat for lunch if I eat out, it occupies my mind for the rest of the day, and I'm forever doing the 6 hour countdown, to see if I get sick or not. lol. Hasn't happened yet, in all my years of emetophobia. I remember throwing out a whole iced coffee I bought from a cafe, because the use-by date on the carton was about a week out (which is pretty bad, but it probably wouldn't have hurt me). I was really thristy too, but refused to drink it!

I don't think you have anything to worry about - usually, food poisoningis *most likely* to occur with reheated meat, and that sort of thing, like chicken salads and stuff. Some cafes and restaurants just don't take as much care when dealing withreheated meats. Not saying all chicken salads are bad, its just if there's going to be contamination, its most likely to happen with something like that, and not a fresh fruit salad, or a sandwich. God, I've probably just put you all off chicken now, haven't I? xD

You can eat fruit at any temperature ^_^ And like yenn said, you would probably know if the fruit was contaminated, as it would taste bad. I think you're going to be fine!Don't worry!
