On Wednesday I have to get some teeth pulled... 1 for sure, but maybe two others. I've never had one pulled out before, so is there anything that could make me feel sick... like the hands in my mouth. I don't like the dentist all that much, but I only go there for the usual check ups and stuff...

Umm, they will freeze your mouth, and keep it open whilst pulling the teeth out. I had a few taken out, but I was put to sleep (this was a few years back, I don't remembermuch!) but I didn't get sick.
.I just want to feel safe in my own skin. I just want to be happy again. I just want to feel deep in my own world. But I’m so lonely I don’t even want to be with myself. <3

I had teeth pulled when I was younger, around ten or so. My expirence was fine and I enjoyed getting them pulled, as weird as it sounds. I had LOTS of teeth pulled, about nine or ten (not at the same time. i had four pulled all at once before) so I could get my braces on sooner. They numbed my mouth with a needle (duh). Then when hewas actually pulling the tooth allI felt waspressure. The gauze he stuffed in my mouth to stop the bleeding kind of bugged me since it was way back in my mouth, but I never gagged. Afterwards your mouth is numb and tingly but I had no nausea that I remember. You'll be fine. Relax. :-D

So whats the difference between an extraction and regular pulling? And numbing and freezing?

Extraction I think is when they have to cut open the gums (like for wisdoms, and impacted teeth), pulling is just when they yank em out. Usually when you get teeth extracted you can be put to sleep (well you have the option).

Freezing and numbing is the same thing I believe, both done with a needle. I know when I get my wisdoms out, I was put to sleep through an IV, then they froze my whole mouth with needles while I was asleep.

Hey... gee there are a lot of teeth pullings going on here lately!

Just so ya know, pretty much anytime theyhave to pull something from your bodyit's called an "extraction"... I've actually had a toenail "extracted" once . I've had a mere 17 tooth "extractions" in my day (note the sarcasm!) 8 were baby teeth,9(including my wisdom teeth in March) were permanentand never once was I sick to my stomach from it. I did however almost pass out once in the waiting room afterwards because I got up too quickly and became dizzy. The trick is to stay seated for a wee bit afterward as to collect yourself.

The only time I was actually knocked out was with the wisdom teeth, otherwise I just received several shots of novacaine. From my experience the novacaine, which I've always had for several cavities (UGH!) really isn't too bad. It literally feels like someone is pinching your gum. Just remember to relax, because the more you tense up, the more your jaw tenses up, and the worse it hurts. As far as the hands in the mouth thing... once I'm numbed, I really don't feel the hands.. just pressure really. It's not too bad.

    Good Luck

Well, these ones I'm getting pulled are Baby Teeth, so they shouldn't be too bad. Just 2 of them are not loose at all.

Oh, in that case... you're doing the easy ones, mine weren't loose at all either. The permanent ones weren't much fun because they have big roots and leave nice holes, but the roots on your baby teeth aren't as long to begin with and should be disolving already so that the permanent ones can stop growing.

It shouldn't take more than a few minutes once you're numb to get them pulled and you won't feel a thing but pressure. The main thing they told me was just to rest afterwards, mainly until the bleeding stops (which didn't take too long), and to not swish and spit or suck out of a straw for 24 hours as it can cause the bleeding to continue.

    Good Luck

Oh god... just got back from the dentist... That was not fun at all. See, I pulled out one of the teeth that they were going to pull out while in the waiting room, but when I go in, they said that they thought that there was a little bit of the root left in it. So, first they numbed up the area of the first tooth, and got that one out pretty fast, but then they went to the other tooth I had previously pulled out. They numbed the back of my mouth for that. They did some poking and drilling there. Then they found a start of a cavity on a tooth next to the pulled out one, so theynumbed even more. One of the times that they numbed it, I guess some of the numbing gel or whatever got into the back of my mouth somehow, and down near my throat. That made me freak out because it felt like my throat was swelling up, and I thought I was going to throw up.

Anyways, the numbing stuff is wearing off, and my throat feels a little more normal, but my teeth and lips still feel weird.
