Lol i know i already have one post in this forum but this is like therapy for me writing out why im so scared and discussing it with other people b/c my family doesnt understand...

But anyways, does everyone have the extreme stress that comes with the phobia? I do, and when I get stressed it makes me nauseated which makes my phobia worse. How do you guys deal with your stress?

    I
dont necessarily get n with stress but whenver I feel n, I get more
stressed and feel more sick and freak out! As difficult as this may be,
you really need to talk to your dr about this! Could you do that? Maybe
he or she can suggest someone for you to see that can help you out with
    this.

    welcome to ies.

I am very stressed, not only by emet, but with other problems I'm experiancing at the moment. But soemtimes when I'm stressed it makes me feel so awful and does sometimes make me feel sick. Which then panics me and then the sickness gets worse etc etc. It keeps going until I calm myself down.

I do recommend that you tell someone. I was like you a few years ago - I couldnt tell anyone about this phobia - I still find it hard, but now have the support of my mum and am seeing a therepist. Its something to consider casue this phobia is very hard to deal with alone. But its good even to post on here and let things out. but maybe you could try talking to someone you know very well orcan open up to.

    Hi Paige.

I genereally only deal with major stress when i am expecting something (sometimes emet-related) to happen. An example is about a month ago when i went on a 6 hour coach trip with my school. I waas really worried that someone was going to be sick and i got really hepped up about it the week before. I was snappy, I was miserable, I was depressed, i basically made an outburst at anyone who came up to me. However, for me, stress only lasts temporarily. Like, if its an exam, i start to get stressed the night before. I deal with stress by just looking at the brightside of what has caused the stress. Just think posotively of it and what you can benefit from what has caused it. Sure there are a load of negatives to think about with stress but these are cancelled out by the posotive thoughts. When im expecting someone to be sick, i just think about how id be braking the ice with this phobia. Sure i will have been exposed, but what would i rather be, a bit shaken and ill or ridden of the phobia, and its putting a brightside on the worries.

Hope ive been helpful. Welcome to IES!!! From Chris

Thank you guys so much. That does help. Ive been trying some like, meditation style stuff but that doesnt seem to help because my emet gets worse when my mind is idle and once I start worrying about getting sick it takes a looonngg time for it to go away. I want to get better but its like some little midget trying to beat up a pro wrestler. Its really hard...and Im trying to tell my family, but no one seems to take me seriously..

unfortunatly this phobia is really 'hard'! Its not easy to cope with, but with some help it can be made easier. I dont want to force youinto anything but its good that you are telling your family. Its hard to tell people cause they never know what to think. But maybe you could show them this site - or if you go to the treatments section theres a written thing all about emetophobia and what causes it etc etc. You'l have to make your family understand and show them how scarry it is for you. its tough but your life will be so much easier when people know about it and can help you. Best of luck
